I have a Mighty Mite neck that has a satin oil finish. It's kind of hard and lifeless feeling. I'd like to try and get it feeling more like my Wolfgang neck, which has more of an unfinished feel. What could I do? I was thinking of just sanding it with some 600 grit, and rubbing some tung, lemon, or something like that on it. Would that work?

Sand it down to taste, than do the Musicman treat.
Start sanding 600-800-1000 grit, apply Birchwood Casey Tru Oil and Wax. You can find plenty videos on it.

You can try this:

I've done it to my Peavey Wolfgangs. Works great.

I've started using the Washburn method.
Get a pint of pure lemon essence and melt a block of pure beeswax into it.
Once it cools it sets into a paste and you rub this into the wood.
Apparently the lemon draws the wax into the wood.
Leave to dry and then simply buff with a soft cloth.

It was supposedly developed for Nuno's guitars but it works beautifully.

I made a pint almost a year ago and I've still got 80% of it left and that's after doing 2 necks a few times each.

I usually sand from 600 - 1200 then just shellac it (4 or 5 coats) then sand with 1200

Man, this stuff is so confusing! Tru oil, tung oil, lemon oil, linseed oil, beeswax? I wish I knew what worked best.

I ordered some tru oil and those fretboard wipes. Hope it works.

I found oil difficult to buff.

The Washburn process is much easier.

Where did you get those materials?
