What have you done to your les Paul to help it hold time better? Love my guitar but it def doesn't hold tune as well as others. In particulairly the g string. Better tuners? If so what works well?

I have never been able to keep any Les Paul in tune. I've seen guys do it. John Sykes for example, who plays the same LP all night long. But I can't keep a Les Paul in tune for a single song let alone a whole set. They drive me absolutely insane when trying to record with them.

Since I don't play out it hasn't been a big issue. Nut def needs to be cut better and lubed I am sure but is that the only thing? Will different tuners help?

Great sounding and playing guitar but def doesn't hold tune like my strat or prs did

Unless your tuners are absolute crap, locking tuners shouldn't really make any difference. Locking tuners can help prevent improper stringing methods, though. That's why a lot of people think they improve stability.

Let me guess ... D and A string ?

Good nut should do the trick or at least help a bit. My LP copy has the same issue.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I like Les Pauls with Floyds on 'em. :D

I would have guessed, that it was the G-string that were difficult to get in tune. It's always the G-string that bothers me.

hold tune as well a what others? granted my charvel once stretched and tuned , with a floyd and lock nut will hold tune for months lol. i touched up the nut and saddles on my paul, and its very stable. i play for a couple hours, hard, at rehearsal and check the tuner every couple songs, and its rarely off.
i put sperzels on mine but its mostly for tuning feel, and ease of changing strings..

I had issues with my R9. I took it over to my tech and he redid the nut and put on a Tonepro bridge and locking studs. Im not sure which one of the 3 did it but it stays in tune perfect now. When my friends play it they cant believe how it stays in tune.

I've been a Floyded strat style man my entire life (close to 30 years playing) until I bought a LP back in March of this year. I don't have any tuning problems. Most tuning issues are at the nut so get some nut sauce, I don't use it myself but it works for other folks. What I do is set the TP as low as you can without it hitting he back of the bridge, it gives a deeper angle at the saddle. I also wrap as much string around the tuner post as possible without any overlap. This puts the string closer to the face of the headstock and a sharper angle passing over over the nut. As always stretch the shit out of the strings first.

I don't know if I'm lucky or what but I bought 1 LP in my lifetime without ever playing it first and the thing was perfect and I have no tuning issues. I heard all the horror stories of having to play 30 before you find a good one. My 20 other super strats have been fairly idle since I got the LP, I now want Custom.

i was having the same, then tried a new stringing method from youtube and it holds tune a million times better

A properly cut nut lubed with big bends.

This.....file the nut out just a little.

Also, don't put many wraps on the tuner when changing strings. Les Pauls can be a bitch.

Never had this problem...proper restringing technique and stretching of the strings is all I've ever done and every LP I've owned has been fine ...and with stock parts.
