Hi all. Extreme noob here. I own a Wharfedale tct50. It is a 50 watt, 2-channel, 2x12 tube-driven combo amp. After a couple years of use and a lot of experimenting, I find that I'm not fond of the preamp section for either of the channels. I currently am running a tube preamp pedal directly into the effects return of the amp therefore using only the (excellent) el34-driven 50 watt power section of the amp. I gig quite a bit so I am trying to make my rig simpler. What I would like to do is separate the power amp section from the rest of the amp and rebox it so I can take it with me. All of the venues I play in have speaker cabs so I don't really need to take one with me. But I really really want to be in control of as much of my tone as possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to go about this? Feel free to refer me to previous threads if this has been covered elsewhere. I tried searching the site and came up with zero. Thanks so much.

Not possible, sell the amp and buy a dedicated Power amp....if you want tubes, Mesa, VHT, Marshall and even the old Peaveys are decent. There are plenty of SS power amps as well if weight is a concern, the Matrix amps are getting alot of love...

What you could do, instead of all the work of separating out the electronics, is change the combo to a head and run to either a miked 1x12 or something like a Bad Cat Unleash and go right to the board. Easier to transport.
