When using the Axe-Fx in a 4CM setup with a Marshall style amp, how's the noise gate? Can i expect it to work as well as my ISP Decimator?

If its as quiet as this thread so far, then you should be good to go!!!

The noise gate is equally as good as the ISP.

I always caution people on the 4CM method though. The Axe works great with some amps and there is terrible HUUUUUUUUUM with other amps when using the amps preamp, even using hum eliminators, etc.

In my experience, the worst culprits are Mark series Mesa's and the Randall MTS amps.

There was a big thread about it over at the Fractal forums and someone from Fractal popped in saying it was due to all the conversions needed when using this method....don't remember the exact technical terms. I just know from A LOT of experience that it works with some amps and not with others.

I just hope that the ISP decimator works as well as you say, as I got an ISP decimator G-string on the way.

I hear the same complaints about the TC G-system with the HUM issues. I tried a Digitech RP unit and had the same problem. But my Fortin has a parallel loop and it's a very quiet amp on it's own.

You will not have a problem with the noise gate in that unit, I liked it better than the amp models.

Nothing screams forum status more than to demo $4500 in noise gates.

Cn you tell me about the packaging the Axe-Fx comes in? Does it have that new product smell?

No.

Old Marshalls smell the best. This is a statement of fact. :gethim:

My Peavey 5150 smelled like ciggarettes, beer and piss.

Given it was used.

Unfortunately thats what near any amp that was used in a bar before all banning smoking laws... now they will probably just smell like beer and piss minus the smoke... I think that's worse. I'm pretty sure the piss comes from sitting in back alley ways waiting to load in and drunk people going out the door and your amp sat in it, that's just my best guess. I'd like to see what happens when someone pisses on a wide open 5150 and hits the tubes though... would be horrific smelling but awesome to watch!
