How's this for 80's guitar tone? I think I really nailed it. Pardon the sloppy playing... I did this at 4 A.M.

If anyone can guess the equipment that made this, you are truly a God among men.

Anyone who likes it, I will be revealing in this thread EXACTLY what gear was used to produce it ;)

Here's the Amplitube 3 Preset for Download: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1569935/80%27s% ... Plexi.at3p

QUIT STEALING MY IDEAS!!!! I still need to record my clip.

im going to take a wild guess in the dark here and say that sounds like one of two things to me

a peavey ultra 120+, or an ADA MP1 using the ADA's onboard chorus

What actually defines an "80s guitar tone"?

It's the sum total of..... cascaded gain divided by delicious. :D

Yeah but how would the mids be? ;)

Scooped mids like 1988?

or

Squawky mids like 1984?

Almost anything posted on Rig Talk?

But there are a lot more 80s guitar tones than just 1987 Whitesnake or Eddie Van Halen...

Well, if your equipment list is excluded, I say Marshall JMP-1 preamp, into something solid-state like the Mosvalve or Marshall 8000/9000 series power. Maybe slammed with a TS up front.

If it's within your list, I say Bogner + TS slammage.

Yeah, that guy Ola sure is stuck in the 80's isn't he? But you know what they say, you don't like it, you know where the door is.

G'man!

I got your message last night! I'll give you a buzz today!

As far as the tone I have a few ways of getting that, so in essence, I haven't got a clue what you used

I would say that the tone is something you would hear in the 80's but not one that I would call a general 80's tone. The chorusing/flanging is too prevalent. Sounds cool though for sure.

Mids = (Marshall style tonestack) pi*d

I want more guesses. I suppose it's more like a Randy tone... hence why I played S.A.T.O.

not that you ere using it but I use the "Crazy Randy" setting in Guitar Rig 4 with a boost in front of it for quiet jamming, it's one of the better presets I have used in a modeler.
quiet jamming is for fagalas...
