HT-5 Guys.....Power tube question

I have been toying with buying a couple different power tubes to try out, but have some questions:

Does the amp need biased when changing?

Does changing this tube affect the tone/gain much? Switching preamp tubes makes a lot of difference IMHO.


Anything I should know that I am not asking about?

I contacted Blackstar, and they told me the amp should indeed be biased when you change the 12BH7. I'm not sure which, but apparently one of these pots is the bias pot, and I assume the other is a hum balance or something. They weren't much help other than telling me it should be biased when I change the tube, and I should take it to a qualified tech.

I think I will just let things be. I like the way it sounds and don't feel like taking it to someone for a bias.

Unless there are Bias points on the outside (like Egnater/Randall), I don't do it myself.
