Hum/slight crackle that goes away when tone knob is turned all the way down?

Hi everyone, I haven't repaired my amp yet so have been using ToneX through my audio interface and through my studio monitors to play guitar.

I noticed today that there is a strange kind of hum, almost a crackle, similar to 50HZ hum but it seems slower and more rhythmic.

If I turn down the tone knob on my guitar, it completely goes away, but I obviously want my tone knob turned up for the higher frequencies.

Is there an easy fix to this, if anyone has any idea what it is?

Thanks for your help, Conan.

Sounds like you´re picking up some outside interference - does it change when you move around the room or back away from the guitar? Might be as easy as turning off some device somewhere, or maybe you need to check the shielding in the guitar.

Yes it does actually change slightly if I move around the room, especially if I turn to the left away from my Macbook pro and studio monitors that I am using to use ToneX. This faces a big window outside, and it doesn't seem as loud if I face this way.

The guitar has both the black shielding paint, and the copper shielding foil in the control cavity that I added- probably overkill with already having shielding paint but something that I wanted to do.
