Surprised no one has mentioned GB M25 RI.

There is a big power handling difference between the greenback reissues and V30's, not to mention sensitivity difference. Its a valid combo for a 412, but not too practical for a 212.
Didn't realize it was a 2x12.
It's not - i have a 2002 1960AV 4x12, with the V30's it came with, and a marshall mode four straight cab. Also a 4x12, that doesn't have any speakers in it right now, and i've just been undecided on which speakers to put where, now that i have an opportunity to get some.
I mentioned something about building a 2x12 for a g12t75 and.an extra vintage 30 that i have. Maybe that's where they got that idea?

I was just making a general statement about greenbacks.
Haha - ok thats kind of what i thought oh well lol

just make sure whatever you pair with the v30's have 50oz magnets or the v30's will overpower them
those things are freakin loud and middy
g12h's, mc90's and g12k100's should work pretty well
weber also makes a much better sounding vintage 30 clone and whatever you ask them to make
I've been using weber-made scumback h75's (g12h clones) and mg black dogs (also made with weber parts, but with the 40oz magnet) for a couple years
had lots of v30's and although they can dominate in a live situation, I've never had a probably cutting through with the other less abrasive speakers
they are much more toneful, in my opinion

I had the ET 65's with v30 but changed them out for H30's . The ET 's seem a bit brighter and have a harder time with staying tight in the lows at high volume.

I like the v30 h30 combo.

well - i just ordered 2 weber legacy 65 watts with 55hz cone's and large H dustcaps and 50 oz magnets. hope they kick ass with V30's in a marshall! too late now if they don't haha

This is a topic left to the listeners ears only. If you want to mix Vintage 30's with another speaker you'll need to get on the bus and take the ride which can be costly. No one can really ride the bus for you unfortunately.

I recently moved my speakers out of x pattern and put the V-30s on the bottom and 70th ann. speakers on top and the mix was much better, smoother would be a good description......

I have also.tried V-30 with EV 200w and got great results as well, just a little too clean for me though......

I love V30's..
They cut through anything in a mix and record beautifully.
I'd pair them with 2 more V30's

Hey man, Im a fan of V30's on their own and they dont mess with my ears but if I was going to pair them with something else, It would totally be the G12H30's and call it a day...

Kage

WHAT HE SAID...!!!

I wasted time and money finally coming this EXACT conclusion which was recommended to me in the first flipping place...

lol...

These or g12-65's

Coming from a Marshall JMP 2203 owner with multiple cabs, including Vintage 30's, you should definitely check out Celestion's G12-65's.

To me they're sound exactly like a Vintage 30 minus the mid bark.

hi bill,
i as trying this combo also, 70th ann on top of a v30 with my jcm800 2205 and i think that i hear some "fuzz" when kick the gain up with a LP kind of AXE...
did you experience fuzziness too with high gain from the 70 ann?

thanks!
