i bought them used off jmpman at the metroamp forum.i know he had them in a cab,but i dont know how much he played them.there not bad sounding, none of them i would say sound bad.they just dont sound like that old speaker.thats just my opinion so take it for what its worth.there all missing something in the mids that highs that the old speaker has..Cornfordcrunch":2h7101bv said:How much break in time did the other speakers have? I recently heard a quad of ScumbackM75's that were every bit as round and brown as the original greenies in a 69 Marshall cab. They had also had about 20 hours on a Variac....your 72's do sound the best out of that batch...that's why Im asking.

yeah when i first heard how warm and detailed they where i was like WOW.the detail to the high end is amazing.no other speaker i have tried has that kind of detail to the high end.also the mids are not like the old speaker..of coure this is just my opinion ..my weber are well broken in,and the 6402 i got are well used you can tell.not sure on the m75,i will have to ask the guy i bought them from..sah5150":19ieku4i said:The '72 rolas sounded the best to me - warmer by far... I gotta wonder what the break-in was on the other speakers though??

dave you have the best toys!!!!the rolas you prefer that are brighter arent they the kurt muller 1777 cone?psychodave":w8lml54y said:FWIW, I have a quad of pre-rola greenback 25's and I dont care for their tone. Everytime I bring out the cab, everybody loves it... even the HOM guys. I prefer the early rola greenbacks (1972+) since they are a little bit brighter. I think the blackback 25's are okay too, but they are more bright than the early rola's....and are great for metal. With that said, my favorite speakers seem to be blackback 30's w/ 55 hz. Recently, my ears have not been liking the late 70's-early 80's 65's. It may be because I have a quad of EVM12L's loaded into a late 70's Marshall cab that sounds heavy...pun intended.
