Definitely. Some of the cheap guitars go WAY overboard with it.

Black on black on black... is perfect.

I like guitar necks without inlays. On some guitars, like a Gibson Custom, it fits because it "makes" the model... But in general, a simple and minimalistic guitar looks best to me.

Small abalone dot inlays on a maple board looks awesome because they're so subtle. The binding on those LTD's and Schecter's is just entirely too gaudy, that's why it looks stupid on them.

I can stand ablone on inlays, but on the binding Makes it look tacky IMO
