I have owned several Gibsons over the years, and have always found them to be sub par as far as build quality and feel goes.
I know LP's are tone monsters, but I have just never fell in love with one.
I stopped by my local GC and see a mint condition black Custom Shop LP with a chrome Floyd Rose and tapered neck pocket.
I was almost positive it was a Neal Schon model, but then realized it did not have the switches in the body for the sustainer etc. But the neck pocket was exactly the same as was the factory installed FR trem.
So I am thinking about picking it up this week and taking out the old sander to thin out the neck more towards a slim 60's style. The neck was a bit too fat for my taste.
The guitar is dead mint, new condition for $2500
What do you think?
Worth abusing?

Awesome price. Plus you can usually haggle at GC.

I did, the ticket price on it is $3500. I knocked the guy around for a grand.

Les Paul and a Floyd....whoa :scared:

Das riiite
Any mod to a Gibson is a good one IMHO.
LP's are like finding a needle in a haystack. For every 100 I have played, one is good.

Ooofah!!! that has my name written all over it!!! Enjoy!!!

I don't get it. I've played plenty of great LP's in stores. Sure there's some crap one's but that's the same with any guitar maker. Now Fender, that's some shitty QC if you ask me. But every new LP Traditional i played has been great.

Is it the Les Paul Axcess? If so, It is plek'd (sp?), and I want one too. I wish they put 6100 jumbo frets on it though.

I LOVE it!!! Ever Since Tom Scholtz in Boston, and Neil Schon from Journey (early on) have been using them, I have wanted one.

Played one of these at music store in Munich. Had a fast neck on it, total shredder LP. Didn't feel at all like any of my LPC's. I think it is cool that they are building it though. It seems like it would be a good seller. :dunno:

I love those LPs. But there's something about the contour on the heel that strikes me funny. They're still awesome nonetheless.

In 1979 I bought a brand new Les Paul Custom. Five years later I had a Kahler put on it. I loved that guitar.
