I have a New Ron Thorn Guitar inbound soon...build pics

Here is mine along with a few necks. Mine is the dark neck. Its a Koa Top with Tortoise binding, Koa Body, Koa Neck, Blackwood fretboard and Koa Inlays. Mine is all out of paint now and has a few weeks to go also if I had to guess...

THis one is call a Thorn SoCal S/S with Drop Top. He started doing these bolt neck guitars a few years ago and he named them basically after cars. Ron is a huge car nut, so he initially came out with the R/S and the G/T. After a year or 2 of doing those, he had a core bunch of customers that were all clamoring for quilt tops, Koa top,s something more exotic than what he was doing so about 5 months ago he caved....LOL I will see if I can get a few pics of my friends guitars too as there are a few of us all at the same exact spot in the build process...just out of the paint booth, necks almost complete...have about a month to go or there abouts... If any have ever played a Thorn, you know they are about as top notch as you can possibly get, so any that are interested, I think I am one of the first guys to actually post pics...once they get seen there will be a LOT of guys knocking on the door to get an order in...

Hey Dave, my good friend Dane is planning on coming by the shop with a few of his Thorns...he has a Parrot (#3), the Manta (#33) , a hot rod, and also owns the Pirate guitar. I know once you play one of the Artisans you will finally just call Ron and put the damn thing on order!! LOL He is in the middle of all these S/S SoCals and has a few high profile guitars in the shop right now getting work done (a guy from Metallica and a guy from Aerosmith getting stuff done) so I dont think he has started that batch of Carbons yet. I will probably talk to him today as he said he was going into the booth to finish up Rays today also. SHould see the quilted ones!!

IMO he builds perfect guitars,he also uses fine thread allens instead of screws.Neck joints
are gapped the same on all sides.Perfect,congrats,glad to see he's getting more biz.

Everything I see from Thorn is top flight, Hamer levels of work. NOw that is how to bookmatch a split piece of maple.

Dude...I can if you want me to! Its a 12 - 16 week build for these vice the Artisans so its right up your alley Dave! You should really go down and poke around the woodpile. Ron says he has 3 more that are just as sick as this one, maybe even more so....plus while you are there you can check out mine, Mikes, and Rays all at the same time!!
