I busted a molar real good last week.
$965 for a Zirconia crown and that's with the dental discount plan which pays up to 50%
lots of numb meds, grinding and fitting. they made the crown on premises while i waited so at least i didn't have to go back.
no pain during the process but slightly sore today. glad its over with.

No porcelain. I will only get gold. I figure if I hit the big time I will just get all gold teeth so I can never get hired for a real job again and am forced into a life of guitar playing.

That's cheap... I think my crown cost me something like $4K and that's maybe 8 years ago.

There were 3 choices.
Porcelain was the middle $750.
Zirconia according to the dentist was better and $200 more.
See told ya i got banged hard.

Had a Porcelain and that busted withing 3 years

Never got it fixed. Not giving me any issues going on about 20 yrs

Pull that shit. At my age…. It’s about the money. And I have dental insurance also. Would love a set of implants but who the fuck can afford that?

What’s absolutely absurd about dental care is cracked/fucked up teeth are detrimental to your actual health, but getting them replaced is considered cosmetic. Not to mention the mental health aspects when you’ve got fucked up teeth and EVERY time you talk to someone you’re spending the whole time trying to move your mouth in a way that doesn’t show off your jacked up teeth.

The dentist we used when we were kids ended up getting his practice shut down and his license revoked, he was performing dental work on low income children without anesthetics and doing absolutely fucking horrible work. Despite hearing kids FREAKING the fuck out from the waiting room and telling our parents repeatedly that this guy was basically a fucking sadist, we got the “toughen up” talk. I don’t give a fuck who you are, when you’re 8 years old and some dude is ripping your teeth out without numbing anything or drilling cavities without anything, that’s straight fucking torture.

By the time I was 16 I had fillings just falling out and any dental work that guy did was fucked. I went to another dentist and that first visit was a good two hours of just going over what needed to be corrected, never mind what work had to be done. I remember the dentist taking one of the fillings and mashing it with a tool, it just smushed because it wasn’t made properly.

I’ve already dumped about $10K into fixing my teeth, first getting all my front teeth veneered…..and now it’s time to do them over again and I just paid off the first round. It’s absolutely fucking absurd.

Tell me if I’m wrong but I always assumed that you have your teeth as long as possible but then you go the denture route. I never had a root canal until I was in my late thirties and it was such a horrible experience that I just refuse it now. I literally had four root canal’s on the same tooth over a period of a week and a half. Just pure agony 24/7….for some reason he never got all the material out and as soon as the numbing wore off….boom…pain. The last time he banded the tooth before working on it and as soon as he did infection literally shot out of my mouth. Then the day I was to have it filled I cracked it eating a bowl of cereal. He had to pull it. I swore never again and every time I have had them pulled. I’m missing both large molars on each side of my lower jaw.

And I have just had my son and daughter at the dentist yesterday getting fillings.

Why not though?
I don’t like feeling numb and when doing the bite test, it is more accurate not being numb. Honestly, there have only been a few times where I’ve felt actual pain. Most of the time it’s the gum area and not from the tooth. My dentist told me she has another patient like me who uses no novocaine.

Of course I had to use novocaine when getting a root canal and wisdom teeth pulled.

This is highly unusual. Most people would go through the roof if someone started drilling into their tooth.!
