I was checking out a Les Paul Jr at lunch today, and the closest amp to the guitar was a Line6 DT50. I didn't really think much about the amp at first, other than I just wanted to hear the guitar. I set all the tone controls to noon and the gain to about 1 o clock and hit a chord. Out of the amp jumped the tone that I have been hearing in my head for the past ten years. The one that I have never seemed to get. So then I start really checking out the amp, and dialing in some different tones. This amp is a monster. It just sounds so damn good, and whatever volume I dialed in. The Lead channel is total Bogner. Very Red channel XTC. I seriously see on of these in my very near future.

Yes, the one that Bogner helped design. It seriously was the best sounding amp I have heard in a very long time.

I posted a video of that amp not too Long ago cause it really sounded great to me in all areas. I may have to pick one up too. How much are they?

The head is around a grand. I'm thinking for that money, it's hard to beat.

play side by side with a killer tube amp and I think, you will think it doesn't sound as good as you think JMO

+1

fired up a 5150 III next to one when they were first released and the difference was substancial - it put the line 6 back in its place, and all was well.

Line 6 stuff never cut it in a band mix for me either. Don't judge an amp by an in store demo.

For the record, this is the DT50, which is a tube amp. And I played a few other amps while there.

If you like it get it. Im looking at this or the DT25.

I played the combo version. I thought it was....ok.

You could count on one hand the number of regular posters here who actually have anything valuable to say about tone.

You like it and have experienced an instant flow with it. Who cares what name is on the plate or what color the capacitors are?

Take pictures of a "forum approved" amp but then post clips with your Line6.....

Good tone is the best revenge.

there have been pictures posted of forum approved amplifiers with clips following said forum approved amplifiers that still sound like dog shit

I dont hate on all line 6 products, in fact the HD500 as a 4CM grab and go processor is probably one of the best all around effects units i have heard for the money.

Vetta II HD's have their place too.

but i just dont like this particular amplifier. at all. that does not mean the OP should not go for it - tone is subjective. and opinions are like assholes. :)

How many people dogging the amp have played it? Just curious. Line 6 name does nothing for me but some of the demo videos actually sound great to me

I had one of the Spider Valve HD100 MKII That was designed by Bogner.
Loved it when I demo in the store. Sounded really good at low/medium volumes when I tried it in the store.
Got it home and played it a few weeks with the band and just sold it shortly after.
Sounded pretty decent.

Never tried the one you mention. Sounds like something interesting.

My DT50 is on the way along with a Variax. We shall see what kind of tone comes from them ;)
