HEY DUDES I GOT, THANKS.
MAKING ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT HERE.

mesa rectifier, framus cobra, roadster, dual rectifier, tremoverb, 5150 series, triple rectifier, all based their designs off of the soldano SLO - the only difference is component types, transformers, rectification types, and the location of the tonestack being where SLO's effects loop is inserted for the mesa's.

Thats it.

Of course they sound worlds apart but the core design is the exact same. There are more switches and options available that each have created and introduced over the years but on top of it all is the main circuit that has stayed the same through it all.

Having played a SLO, what they have are simplicity and excellent build quality/craftmanship. You cant really get a bad tone out of one even with a knob set on 10. Tonally they are less gain than either Mesa or 5150 to me, but that is my opinion. It's an amplifier you either love or hate, but you cannot deny how transparent they are and their importance to the success of other companies and artists.

BTW if you suck a SLO will make sure that others will hear it

There is nothing to hide behind, they are truely as transparent as a low-gain marshall.

l'll tell you next week after I've played my new to me SLO that's inbound. I think both Bogner and Diezel have higher priced amps but could be wrong.

I mean, it seems like half of you guys on here are getting hard ons by every thread with Soldano in it.
I've heard it is very good amp, but what is with all the hype? I don't even know any major celeberty playing it. What kind of sounds does it make? Why is it WAY more expensive than: MESA, Bogner, Egnater, and some Diezels?
Are you a cave dweller? w/o interwebz? possibly a troll descendant?

Least he's got a cool avatar...

I think another thing about Soldano and THIS particular forum is that THIS particular forum has a LOT of 80s metal disciples on it; and in the 80s and most certainly early to mid 90s, the SLO was powering many of what this forum feels were and continue to be phenomenal guitarists. Broadly accepted admiration through association

I know Metallica used Mesa in 80s, Slayer/Megadeth Marshall.
Who did use Soldano in 80s?

Not nice!
I know a lot of shit you may not know, should I call you a troll too?
I really never heard of Soldano before Rig-talk, and if you put your arrogance aside and ask people around you may find out that not many people know/play or even care about Soldano.

Eric Clapton was seen on stage with one.
Warren DeMartini, big time user.
George Lynch, Dokken and several others.

Read about Soldano's story (http://www.soldano.com/about/) - aside from the base Western Circuit - he's really made an amp from the ground up to sound and respond differently than what was out there at that time. I've had the pleasure of speaking with Mike on a number of occasions; the guy's super knowledgeable and friendly. I've had an SLO and a HR100+ in my past. While awesome amps on many levels, they weren't my tone - but as you all know I say - tone is personal preference, there is no right or wrong.

Basing your argument on the fact you'd not heard of Soldano until you hung here at RT, I am sure the same could be said for DAR, Diezel, Hayden, Fortin, and the list goes on. So, not picking bones, I'm just sayin', you know what I'm sayin'??

I am mostrly into thrash and I don't think those guys are into these amps too much.

Yeah, not a Trash amp. But I don't see them as more expensive that Diezels and Bogners. A new VH4 is about $4,500 I think. Herbert $4,200? Ubershall $3,500? SLO is about $3,500 as well. No idea about Oz dollars though. They are worth giving a listen if you get a chance, but it doesn't seem like it would fit your style.
