I got this tangerine Charvel Custom Shop about a month ago and wow what a great guitar. The paint just sparkles and the neck...well just amazing! Even has the sloped neck heal which is nice.

I saw this guitar at GC and I ran it by our in-house Charvel expert and I decided to make a move on it. I can't even tell you guys what I paid because I basically stole this guitar. You gotta love GC and there sometimes lack of specialized gear knowledge.

Sweet looking guitar (tangerine, no pun intended, well maybe a little ;) )! Too bad you didn't have this posted in time for Halloween, the colors are perfect. Unfinished neck?

On the bottom picture I see a small crack where the neck meets the body at the base of the "wing", nearest the bottom right screw (in the photo). Hopefully it's just cosmetic.

Yeah it does look like Halloween a bit. Yes the neck is unfinished. Simple oiled neck and super smooth and fast.

That little paint crack was one of my leverage points. Before even seeing detailed pics(I bought it online), I asked the guy if it had any cracks in the neck pocket because Charvels are notorious for having them. He said yes and me saying the pickups were mismatched are a problem.  My white one has paint cracks on both sides. If you ever so slightly tighten the bolts on the back the paint will crack. Very common and doesn't effect anything.

Yeah. I've got those paint cracks on some of my Strats, but that's because I bend my necks to about a whole tone drop. Sometimes more. ;)

Love the sloped heel. Can't stand the fat heel that all Charvels/Fenders come with!!

Why don't they make all Charvels/Fenders like this?? Access to upper frets is just ridiculous without it

You know your Charvels! I wonder if it's just sanding down the inside of the neck pocket, maybe there's excess paint that crept in that makes the pocket too tight.

+1 on the maple board, I don't see many on newer guitars though I wish more companies would start offering them again.

Aw hell, your Charvels have the truss rod adjustment at the headstock and not at the body, even sweeter!

You can get any Charvel Custom Shop with a sloped heel IF that's how you want it. It's either free or at most a $50 charge. I don't remember, because no one orders them that way. Personally, that's not how I want it. I don't mind the traditional neck heel and yes, I have owned guitars with the modern neck heel. I just think of all the amazing music recorded by amazing guitarists with traditional neck heels.

And yes, those little paint cracks at the neck heel are pretty typical on bolt on neck guitars that don't have a very thick layer of paint on them.

All that amazing music would still have been made with a sloped heel. The guitarists would just have had a much easier time accessing upper frets.

The easy access truss rod adjustment should also be standard in all Charvel guitars.

Sometimes things just make too much sense for the general public to grasp, and they just need the decision made for them

Nobody would complain if these "options" came standard. It would just be like, DUH......

ARE YOU KIDDING???!???? You have ANY idea how much flaming would go on during arguments: 'my guitars' got the traditional heel and has more wood=more tone"    :D I can see it now..... :hys: :hys: :hys:

Bazinga!!

Nice looking guitar. I see the typical fender neck pocket lacquer crack has started already (unless is just a mirage in the picture)

Sweet axe. I bet it sounds killer through that Quick Rod.

Now you have to take a new avatar pic with you and the little one rocking the Charvels

You're dead wrong. The Charvel purists who buy the bulk of Custom Shop guitars would puke all over your suggestion. They want the guitars to be exactly like the originals...

I'm not one of these purists, but personally, I find it takes me very little effort to to take the neck off a Floyd'd Charvel guitar and adjust the truss rod. No need to remove strings or anything... Sure it's less convenient, but not an issue for me. As far as the sloped heel, I had a Charvel with one and many without and I could never tell the difference playing them... Not something I'd order...

Killer custom shop btw - OP - what did you pay for it? :D

It has an angry attitude. The white reissue has an angry tone but a lot smoother than this tangerine. I have the same pups in both but this one just plays angry! It sounds killer through that Rhodes Superlead amp on top and the two make me feel like I should join a Poison tribute band or something.

My white reissue has the regular neck and it still is pretty easy to play, but that sloped is a tad bit better. So for an extra $50 it is worth it as I have another CS on order with that feature. Strangely enough my white one is a tad easier than my Fender Stat for some reason. Perhaps the neck shape, but noticeable.

$850+tax ;)
