Just some random blabber here, nothing to see. TL;DR Been jamming again with some new guys and the Bogner always delivers.

A few months back I was in 2 bands. With one, the band had been playing off and on for a long time and finally decided to call it quits. The other was a new thing I started with some killer musicians I had met but as soon as we got a singer the drummer bailed and it fell apart.

I decided to Sell my Mesa and keep the Bogner Rev 2. Needed some funds for some home projects, 2 amps is unrealistic even for an addict like me and I felt that I am getting too old where I don't care about struggling to get a solid band going. The JP2C is a killer killer amp but side by side the Bogner just had something and I can't bare to get rid of it, I am glad I kept it.

So we jammed last night for the second time. It is myself, a drummer and a bassist. We only got two of the songs down so far but it is starting to sound really good. The drummer is good as well. The music is hard to describe, in a nutshell it is in the vein of mid 90's hardcore with better riffing IMO. There is a variety where the songs will not all sound the same, we are going for super heavy hardcore but not the Oi Oi kind. I will post something up if this works out and it is recorded.

So anyway I forgot my bag last night with all of my pedals so I had to plug straight in the amp. I love a boost even for high gain amps but it sounded sooo damn good straight in. The Rev 2 is so old and out dated. It does not have many features and the Loop is a pain in the ass but damn that amp is Magical. I just think it is awesome how simple things like this can get you in the spirit again.

Very cool. I know what you mean when you just gel with a piece of gear. It helps because then you can really focus on playing and tone from the fingers.

There’s something about Bogner tone. It’s not “generic” and has a character. I traded a guitar that I was trying to sell (but couldn’t) straight up for a Shiva 20th. I’ve been really happy with my EVH’s and was just going to flip the Bogner. Well, it wound up being my main amp now for the past 2 years and I don’t plan on ever selling it. I sold the 100w EVH (though I kept the 50w but it doesn’t get played too often anymore).

You're ghey for Bogner.

Im just gay all around.

But the Bogner smells so good inside.

Nice man!

I picked up a 20th Shiva a couple months ago, and I agree that Bogner has something special going on. There is this grinding, juicy, chewy thickness to the tone that's just something else. I know those are weird adjectives to use to describe tone, but they're the only words I can think of that describes it for me.

Always wanted to try an Uber and still do in a bad way!
