Because all I've done the past 2 days, is play guitar!!!     This thing is the best purchase I have EVER made since I started playing guitar!!! Seriously, if you don't have one, GO BUY ONE, and have every amp in your professional carry on toaster. EVEN if it is only 98 percent or 99 percent as close to the original amp (and I believe some of them are quite dead on, seriously, like SPOT ON), that is STILL worth the price tag. Hell, it's basically chump change at that point compared to what it would cost you to own all of these amps/effects. Not to mention, you can tweak it and with in 30 seconds, you will have something you like just as good or BETTER than the original amp, it is that amazing. I have only used it with head phones so far, however, about to go to band practice and use it, and record with it, and I will probably be blown away I am sure! I've downloaded over 200 profiles and about 150 cabs, and have been playing with this thing non stop. The tones that some people have put up (titan preamp, fortins, splawns, diezels) are absoltuely insane. I have pretty good experience with the herbert, and I can say without a doubt, this thing nails it dead on, the feel and everything as well...Completely unreal. Only downside is, you are essentially relying on yours, or someone elses micing skills to get good profiles, that is the only possible negative I can think of, and it is irrelevant because people are doing a damn good job over in the kemper forum community. I am sold on this product, they hit a grand slam with it. Now I see why so very few are being sold used, and every studio is using one of these it seems. My good buddies at audiohammer just did the new white chapel with the kemper, and the tones are absolutely insane...Anyways I am rambling...Go buy a kemper!

Nice!

Got out of the boutique amp ownership biz in January and just been happy with my DSL50. But I'm thinking that I'll have to give serious consideration to picking up a Kemper down the road as an awesome jack-of-all-trades. I became a bit disenchanted with my 11R and traded it away. So I could use a great modeler (that hopefully I can stay in-love with).

Hey man, are the profiles on the Kemper site rated in any way? 5 stars for great, etc?

Thee 11r is a line 6 flextone from 1999 compared to the KPA for real and accurate tones!!!! :D :D :D :D

 It's actually been very liberating to not always be haunted by that next ridiculously expensive tube amp. And honestly, I've been pretty much as happy with my DSL these past two months as I was with my Bogners, VHT, etc.

I do have to say that I'm still haunted (if I allow myself to think about it) by the spectre of an SLO and maybe a Diezel Herbert or Hagan. Never stumbled on any of these three mighty amps to try. So for now they remain some possibly "greener grass" on the other side of the fence.

I have 2 questions.
1. Anyone compare it to the Fractal unit?
2. Does it only recreate recorded amp tone (amp-cab-mic)?

Interesting... I do have to say that the XTC tones I was getting on the 11R were pretty close to the same vibe as my real XTC. But by the end I just wasn't digging it and actually traded it for the DSL.

Yep, you need an SLO with ALL the goods!! I know a very nice one that would cure any future GAS!

In my opinion, the fractal is much behind the KPA for sheer tone. The KPA is unmatched for the quality of tone it puts out in my opinion, and the ease of use compared to the axe??? Lol lets not even go there.... Flame away!

And yes that is correct

Thanks man! :D
The KPA sounds like a recording and gigging artist's dream but would fall short for band practice and small gigs without sound reinforcement for the guitars.
Am I off base?

Of that I have NO doubt. It's one of the reasons I bought an 11R instead of the Axe-Fx. I spent the 90s touring with rack gear and HATED all of the tap-dancing on the rubber buttons to change parameters to match different rooms and saving patches, etc. The control knobs on the 11R allowed me to adjust settings quickly and do it like having a real amp there. The Kemper is the same way in this regard and one of the reasons I would try the Kemper long before I'd bother with the Fractal.

I WILL have to try an SLO eventually for sure! Right now, the look on my wife's face would cure any GAS that comes up. She's been very patient and understanding with all of my boutique amp and acoustic guitar experimentations. But I have a feeling that if I ran-out and picked-up an SLO right now, I'd see the end of her patience.

Plus, I REALLY am very happy with my DSL right now. Especially considering that I've mostly quit gigging the rock thing and only have one scheduled right now (later in September). I'm getting my rocks-off right now with my own solo acoustic thing. No back-breaking gear to haul and setup, no ringing ears, no lead-singers to tolerate, and GREAT hours! :D

The idea of the Kemper has been popping in my head lately. Just sold the Axe FX II, went through the PODs and all that... not too fond of modeling, although the Axe FX II was SOOOO close... in the end it was the tweaking that ruined it. I've been hearing how much simpler to use the Kemper is, that's it more amp-life, etc, etc.

You guys are killing me with this thing!

I'm trying to wait for the rack mount version.

I would dig that more. The thing is pretty funky looking. Would just like to get a rack-mount version and load it into a head shell.

I still absolutely love mine, sold off all my amps but my JCM800, the Kemper really is awesome.

I would love to buy a Kemper, I think it would do all I need for a light weight live rig except......I would need to hear one live first. I saw Dweezil live and he used the Axe ultra and his tone sucked. I supposed it could have been the room or pa but wow it was bad. I'd like to hear the Kemper through a power amp and cabinet or monitor, not recorded into the computer like all the stuff I have been hearing. My back wants to use a modeler live, my ears do not....at least not yet.

Yeah- I'm not into tweaking beyond a certain point- but I've been very impressed with the tones on some Axe FX clips- if the Kemper is as good as you say and especially if it sounds great direct for recording-

Even though it looks like Star Trek Episode 143- I'll probably have to get one eventually.......

Do the lights EVER stop flashing ?

Love the title of this subject.

Here another one who is waiting for the 19" rack version. Not only want to ditch the Ultra for the better amp sounds but also to get rid of this stupid knob fobling after every stupid update and turn my back to the whole FAS idiotic testosteron dick swinging attitude.
