I modded one of my friends Peavey Classic 30, added master volume, presence, resonance, bias, screen grid resistors, mid-shift and tweaked the distortion and the reverb circuit...

Sounds pretty sweet. I've been listening to Classic 30s lately, and I like the amp. It sounds like you tightened up the distortion a lot. It seems to live between rock, blues, and metal. I actually like the Classic 30 for its more open crunch, but I can see what you did with it. It's actually pretty cool.

How did you mod it? Did you use a kit? Is it a common mod? Or were you just futzing around? I have done a couple of futz around mods that are good sounding. I ended up burning out some contact points on one amp from too many resolders. I'm actually hoping to fix it this weekend. Then leave it alone.

I had a tweed style Classic 30... Did the full on boutique circuit upgrade. But the biggest hit was the Celestion Alnico Gold driver in it, and good quality glass. Easy to do, maybe not so cheap, but the sound was SICK!!
