I need a good alternative to a 4X12 cab.

I recently got a Carvin X-100B fuzzy head with a newer Carvin 4X12 slant cab. I like the sound I'm getting out of it, but I'd rather not to haul this thing around, and It's kind of hard to get used to how different it sounds when I'm not directly in front of it (my first closed back). I was thinking maybe a wide, oversized 1x12 that the head can sit on with an Emi Delta Pro12A (1x12). Would this be pretty good, or should I just suck it up and tote the 4X12? I need to be able to cover anything from country to classic hard rock, and I don't want to spend more than I can get for the 4X12.
