I have an custom LP that was built for me (rosewood fretboard, maple neck, maple top and mahogany body). I honestly like the Gibson 500T in the bridge of this guitar BUT it is a bit harsh and very prone to feedback in comparison to my other guitars. Is there something similar in sound but not so harsh in the mids and highs and maybe a bit looser in the low end? Maybe something with alnico instead of ceramic as alnico tends to sound a bit warmer to my ears...

Thanks!
For your style of music maybe the new BareKnuckle Blackhawk alnico. Email Tim Laura and tell him what you are looking for. He knows Pauls very well.
I just picked up the ceramic blackhawk and it's pretty nice

I have a duncan custom custom in a LP custom. It has a nice high end clarity not harsh at all.

As much as I don't really love the sound of the 500T in the 2 guitars that I have them in, they cut so well and sound great in a mix. Decisions, decisions...

One word: Norton

+1

Norton bridge - not the air norton. You'll love it!

I agree. The DP160 Norton is the most underrated pickup ever IMO. Sounds perfect in Mahogany. I have it in 2 guitars......funny that I don't care for the Air Norton though (I've only used it in the neck).

FWIW, In my Carvin SC.....I also tried a WCR Godwood, BKP Nailbomb, BKP Cold Sweat, BKP Crawler, Duncan Custom, Duncan JB, and Dimarzio Super Distortion.....none of which came close to the Norton.
