I am looking to pickup a unit that I can use for practice with a good set of headphones.
I picked up a tiny terror today and it sound awful with headphones, it actually sounds pretty good with the mini cab they made to go with it but it sounds bad with headphones.

I am looking to get something that sounds good that has a AUX so I can jam along with my favorite tunes.

Ever consider a USB/Firewire interface and using emulators? They are really coming out with awesome ones these days.

5150 3 and the engl ironball have headphone outs, the ironballs out works very well, haven't tried the 5150

Not an amp but the Boss JS-8 (or JS-10) is an incredibly useful tool for playing along with songs. It gets great sounds through the headphones (not so great through the built in speakers). It has a USB port where you can load up a bunch of mp3's on a thumb drive and then play along with them and record yourself over the track. You can also slow down difficult licks. It's expensive but well worth it to me. I never turn on my amps at home.

There is a ton of love around here for the Bias and Jam Up apps. So far I just found them ok. Still like my Line 6 Flextone III headphone out. I run it into the Tascam MP-GT1 MP3 player to jam along and learn songs. Still works great, just wish it was even more portable.

Check out the Blackstar ID Core 20. just got one and it's a lot of fun.

Why not get a PODXTLive? Mine works greats for practice and just jamming quietly. It has headphones out and aux in for jamming along with a song. The tones I have dialed in even work well in a quick set-up or opening band slot. People have even complimented my live tones with it. But it doesn't take place of my main rig though.
And now that they are 3-4 generations old now, you can get one dirt cheap.

For whatever reason, I can't stand playing anything high-gain through headphones. It sounds like a fizzy mess. I've had Pods, Axe FX, various amps, sims on Pro Tools and iphone, but nothing has been good enough. I've had a few pair of headphons too. I'm not sure what the issue is. I don't even like mixing guitars on headphones. The same tracks sound great through speaker monitors.

+1 for jamup, bias, Magellan, & Tape to record. There's something in there for every one.

The amp I've owned and used the longest in my entire life is probably my Roland Cube. I bring it on vacation. Sounds great and has a headphone jack. I'd probably get a Yamaha now though. Those things look awesome.

Another vote for the PODxt. I have one and still use it when I need a headphone solution. Had the mighty AFXII and while it definitely was better than the POD when amplified, I truly preferred the PODxt when directly using headphones. It's not the greatest thing ever, but many of the Marshall sims and the SLO sim sound pretty good to me.

The JS-8 is the only thing I use at home these days. Sounds great through headphones, lots of tones, a ton of cool rhythm tracks, and I can even get along with the speakers as long as you don't crank it up too loud. It's probably the most useful practice tool that I've ever come across.

I just got a Yamaha THR10x and couldn't be happier. I plug in my iphone to the aux input and can learn and play along with tracks...and able to dial in a good mix using the usb/aux knob

The Uberschall sim is pretty good too. :D

Kemper sounds amazing with headphones.

EVH 5150 III sounds not so good through headphones.

POD Farm is OK.
