For the drummer to practice with. Need to have headphone jack, loud enough to hear and programmable for the tempo changes.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I would record them and bounce them out in your DAW, and then stick them on an iPod or whatever i-something one might have.

if you have a smart phone, or he does, just get an app.... there are a ton.

for the droid, zymi makes a good one,...its easy to use, quick, snappy and never crashes.

mobile metronome is a little more in depth and is programmable, but just as trusty. i like them both and use both.

We need a real one for band practice and live shows. I can Google, was just curious if anyone here knew of any.

not sure if it will work for you or not, but i use a korg metronome for my personal practice. it has a TRS output that you could adapt to a PA system, tap tempo up to 260bpm, can do quarter, dotted 8ths, triplets, the whole 9 yards. total cost was something like $30 retail if i remember correctly - does run off of batteries, so no 9V adapter built in. have not had to change mine since i owned it.

Can you program tempo changes? We have quite a bit in our songs. If so do you recall the model#??

yeah its a cheap tap-tempo system - you select the beat (dotted quarter, etc) and then select the tempo, there is also a fine adjustment up/down arrow to fine tune the beat 1 part at a time.

1 sec and ill see if i can find a model # for you

I'd definitely go the route of programming one in the daw, bouncing it out with a limiter on it smashing it, and then putting it on an iPod. That way you can get your tempo changes down, and you don't have to re-program all the time.

Map out the changes by recording a scratch guitar, so you know exactly where the tempo changes are, then just ditch the scratch track when bouncing out the click.

I like the Tama Rhythm Watch, but it almost sounds like you're wanting a drum/rhythm machine. I've got a Korg electribe that can have songs programmed into it. They can be had for pretty cheap if you find one used, and can also provide some "interesting" electronica type flavors to things if you actually want to try to use it live.

I really have no idea what this means.

But funny I was actually looking and discovered the Tama 105. Found one local for $25.. Score...

All we need is a metronome that the drummer can hear during play. And one that we can program our set to play live and record.

eg. A song starts at 140bpm for 8 measures, then jumps to 142 for 8 measures, then 150 for 2 measures, then 127 for 8 measures. ect.

Tama Rythym watch should suit that no?

well this was a hypotheitcal example...But if you go to our band page and listen to Humans Burning its kind of similar. (old recording, with no metronome and horrible production)

This is hands down the best metronome out there.

If you need to map out songs with multiple tempo or meter changes, it would be best to do it in a DAW (I use Pro Tools for this all the time) as it will give you the exact results your are looking for.

this is what we do in Reaper. But we cant exactly bring Reaper to our live shows.

Kind of starting to get the idea tho about what you guys are saying about bouncing it out from the DAW to an IPOD
