And was floored

One of the better sounding amps Ive played in a long time. Ch.1 was probably the best clean tone Ive ever heard and Ch.2 sounded to me like a more saturated Budda Superdrive. I nearly bought it on the spot! Any other folks playing the Super Sonic?

Which version? SS60 or SS20. There is also an old version and new version of the SS60.

Did you find the volume knobs very touchy?

The super sonic sim was the only dirt I could dig in the mustang amps. So no surprise here.

I really like the SS. If the head came with a reverb tank it would be perfect.

I had heard a while back that Matthias Jabs from The Scorpions was using them but I'm not sure if it is/was true. I have never played one personally.

Yes, he used them before his signatrue head. They are pretty good. Reminded me to the EVH 5153 feel wise.

great amps, was very close to buying one a few years back, the newer ones have even more features too

the two gain knobs are great for dialing in

This was the 22 watt combo in blonde. It was new at a music store so I would assume its the newest version. I didnt find the volumes touchy , but Ive also been playing old Marshalls forever so Im used to amps going from off to holy shit loud with the slightest touch  . The 1st channel was definitely more touchy than the second. The only thing I wish is that the 2nd gain stage could be footswitchable. I would like to be able to have a slightly broken up tone , then be able to kick in that second stage for leads.

You can get them for next to nothing these days. Great amps. Its predecessor, the Prosonic, is also a really cool head.

BUMP for ewill52's question.... I'd like to know the answer too ^

I thought Sambora briefly endorsed these too for a while.. could be wrong, might have been another higher gain fender head.

is the 22 watt version loud enough to gig with?

I have the v custom with v-30. Its my grab and go amp when I don't want to bring a head and cab. It's easily loud enough to gig with.

Does seem cool. FWIW I read in one of the discussions that they are not built well at all at least the 60. I read the 22 has bad hum and channel pop. For what its worth as I have no experience myself. Maybe he got a bad one.

I'm an electrical engineer and opened my SS 60. The construction was crap. Wires barely soldered onto the circuit board and many cold solder joints. I stand by my comments on the 60. If yours is working for you, then great, but I think the construction and reliability of that model is garbage..

Not sure who you were directing this towards. I am not an engineer or a tech. I never had it opened up. I don't even know how old my 22 watt amp is. I did want to mention in case others were interested there is no hum or channel pop in mine. In fact I never had any issue with it.

Not toward you. I read the quote and some others in another discussion.

No worries, I just wanted to point out mine worked fine. So if there was any issues maybe they resolved them. Maybe I got lucky with mine. It's not my main amp but for what I use it for I don't have any complaints in function or tone.
