i was totally inspired today by how easy it is to shred on this amp!

i've never even thought about trying to record a clip of this song because it's one of those deals where unless you nail it it's not even worth doing, but i was closer than i've been in a long time to some of the harder bits, so without further ado...

eggie-ruption

tyler strat->channel 4, with a replex and a BBE 482 (gasp) in the loop, into an EV 1X12 cab!!!

not really trying to clone VH brown sound on this one, just shredding for fun!

I can only say that I think if I were allowed to record you doing stuff like this with my recording rig, the results would be frightening...

Well done, my friend!

thanks mojave bro bro!
and speaking of recording, have we any hope of hearing a clip of your modded 'Maker in the not too distant future?

One of my fave amps of all time  If only I can get my hands on one :(

i remember reading about the TOL 100 in the guitar player shootout in 94/95 and thinking it might be cool,
and then playing one through a bogner 4x12 at makin music and being totally blown away by it, over every other amp in the shop. broke my boogie streak!

and now all these years later it's en vogue to own an eggie...about time!

just played the new super champ XD thingie.

VERY interesting.....fender cleans and blues dirt (didn't care for ultracrunch tones) for 300 bones huh?

two in stereo would make quite the impressive mini fender clean rig

and on a totally unrelated topic, i found a sweet wmv video clip of a guy i used to love mixing sound for at church because he was such a cool guy with a wonderful sense of humor, a very down to earth and edgy Christian, and one tasty player with killer acoustic tone (which made my job very easy),

the late great roby duke.
watching this really makes me miss him.

even if you're not a particularly spiritual type, i think any guitar player would enjoy this one:

sweetness

i figure i'd post this here at a higher quality before the youtube smoosh.

and fwiw i heard from our music director that we are trying to plan a concert with phil keaggy and his full electric band *and* doyle dykes in the fall.

those two jamming together would be terrifying, in a good way!

Awesome on the eruption and the RD clip, Roby was a hoot!

BTW, Pat did Roby ever tell you any of his stories about growing up?

Man Pat I agree with Steve, I want to hear your tonal findings with some serious muscle behind the mics!

Sounds great

Well of course you and your voodoo mystical gatherings would be a pain in the ass to lug to Steve's like...............

finger oils of Guthie to prepare strings
lock of Robben Ford's hair to lay apon the mids knob
Virgin copper for mojo pups hand wrapped by virgin philippino girls
NOS G12 speakers broken in by Richie Blackmore's lute while his manhood was being attended to by his flute betty.
Guitar body made from Steve Vai's chest that stored EVO

:D

Awesome, Pat!

Kw

Roby was amazing. check out some more of his live performances on youtube.
he was about to do a cd with another of my favorites, Bob Bennett, who said he just wanted to play in the same room as Roby so he could get some of his "stank" on him!

just little bits about jamming with his dad? and growing up in the south.
he was more into talking about his son and current things, gear, and his recording adventures/spectrasonic stuff.

the TOL clip was not even close to VH brown crunch ala Peacemaker, but it was just fun to uncork the gain bottle again!
i chucked the first mic i could grab and set up on the cone and spazzed away!

actually the fast stuff didn't sound way off the VH mark tonewise, but the chords were light years away from brown! the EV will not go there, and the master on the eggie was way low.

Is yours a Rocktron or a Mica?

rocktron, with the TOS (tone of snider---that guru!) mod

i had it set to the vintage voice. the EV is nice for fattening single notes, but rock chords are not as open as a celestion.
