Hey Kage! Thanks for the birthday call last week. Been meaning to get back in touch, but it's been crazy here. I'm off next week, so I'll definitely give you a call.

Hey, what poweramp and speakers are you using in your current AxeFx setup?

Kage, have you had time to get the Skype thingie in order?

No, its discontinued but they may have 2-3 left for 319.00 each. At that point I would just say go with the DCM 1000 for 349.00.. its good clean reliable power. I am going to do some experimentation with a tube power amp and for that, I Think that their TS-100 is an awesome buy at 550.00 new. you can swap EL34's or 6l6's and you can also bridge it mono which is great...

Rawk! Lemme now when you have it up and running.

I've been trying to get my Axe to sound great with something besides a 2:90...no go so far. It kind of ruins it for me if I have to lug the 2:90 to gigs as well.

It does sound fantastic with the 2:90 though...especially the 'Euro 1' amp.

I went with the Ultra Dave, there was some cool stuff there that I wanted to experiment with that the standard didnt have.

Theres so much that you can do with this thing it isnt even funny and the truth is that I doubt that ill ever use more than 10% of whats available but Ive come across some amazing stuff...

Im in the same boat as you!. Id love to loose the 2:90 because it adds 40lbs to my rack. That Might not sound like a lot but miving the rig gets old real quick!!
With that said, you will realize rather quicky that all of you patches will have to be tweaked again to match the poweramps characteristics. I hated Kages Carvin SS preamp at first until I realized that it added a lot more top end then what my 2:90 was adding. A Quick EQ adjustment fixed that no problem. The other thing that you will have to screw with is the poweramp sim section . That section can make or break the tone/feel bigtime ;)

I have Mackie HR824 studio monitors and a Bag Eng PA system at home to play with...so far neither even comes close to the tone (or feel) of the 2:90.

Any tips? Most of the places we play have decent monitors and I'd love to show up with the Axe and a footcontroller.

You would have to ask Ed degenaro about that!! Im still a firm beliver on using the axe-fx with a poweramp and guitar speakers. I just had a rehearsal with that setup last sunday and it just killed on every level. Im not a good guy to ask about using the Axe-fx direct into the PA !!
I can tell you that Im really looking forward to the atomic amps Tube based Speaker/FHFR system though!!

The only reason I don't run direct through our PA is that it's a monster QSC system that's only convienient to setup at gigs and not inside a house or garage. It's just much easier for me to dial in killer tones at home through the TS-100 and 2X12 Marshall cab and then mic it for live use with two SM57's in stereo and tweak the EQ on the boards channels to taste.
