I really think that the AxeFx cured my Amp GAS

Im just not interested in anything else, not that I really ever was, Ive always been more of a guitar guy than an amp guy. Theres so much to dig in and tweek on the AF that the thought of going elsewhere or even trying something else or new just doesnt exist anymore.

I still have a LONG way to go on it though and Im really interested in pushing that. You can get a great sound very quickly but what you can do from there is ridiculous and a little intimidating. It sounded phenomenal at my gig last saturday through a Mesa 4x12 but It still needs a little work, Im 90-95% there both tone and FX wise.

Pretty cool to be completely satisfied on the amp end of things...

That's cool..but did you ever really GAS for much, knowing how long you love the Mark IV tones?

Well, Ive always loved Marshall tones as well, especially hot rodded tones and believe it or not you could come pretty close with the Boog but now, I can dial that up and have it stored to call up whenever I feel like it as opposed to having to switch rigs etc.

I guess the thing that I love so much about it is that its so compact and versatile like nothing else that Ive ever messed with...

+1 My thoughts as well!!

Yup, amen. The JVM and humongo 1960A 4X12 cab I SOLD on Craigslist! Whoo hoo! Just lovin the ease and killer sound of an 8 space rack with goodies including the AxeFx Ultra coupled with a 2X12 cab mic'd only for large venues. Just doesn't get any simpler, better sounding or more versatile than that!

You were able to get marshall tones out of the Mesa mark IV? I would love to see your settings if you still have them.

Glad you are digging the AxeFx

I`ve found that on my Caliber 50+, using the 750 slider, coupled with the gain knob can get the "flavour", although with 6L6`s it won`t be the exact same :)

Absolutely Knut!!!! However, Ralphie dialed in something with the PQ3 once and damn if it wasnt the closest thing Ive ever heard to Early Ronni Le Tekro tone... it was friggin scary!!!

Ya, you`ll defo have more control with a PQ in addition, because you can always cut the low end that the Mesa has, but the Marshall "lacks". The mids are the most ticklish part when doing this. I have a parametric EQ I`d like to try out, with a boost (Roger Mayer treble booster) and a little less gain on the Mesa. I think I could get close with the right speakers.

(The EVM in the Caliber is out of the question :D Mesa with EVM sounds like Stryper and Akira Takasaki   )

Sounds like a cool piece of gear Kage. Hope to come out to the island and catch PU again, and hear the Axe in action!!

I've been running mine for 18 months now and I don't even look at amps anymore. When I hear a tone I dig I just dial it in and roll.

I'm with ya bro.

I have been on an amp merry go round for a number of years. With the exception of my Voodoo modded VHT UL, I have had my Axe the longest and really don't have any desire to own anything else.

I did buy a few amps recently, but the ONLY reason was to directly A/B them with my Axe to see how close I could get. With the exception of a Mark IV (which I know you and Ralph had quick success duplicating...I think that may be due to a more technical knowledge of how to get tone, I tend to just fiddle with knobs til I get what I like), I was able to ,almost immediately, get what I was looking for. And after some patience, I was able to duplicate the Mark IV too, so it is sold as well.

The Axe Fx is everything and more that I hoped I would have with the Egnater/Randall modular gear. I love that gear and if there were no Axe Fx, that is probably where I would still be, but there is and I am very happy for it.

I would never say there is a be all end all piece of gear for everyone, but the Axe fills my needs and wants and then some. I can't imagine any scenario where I don't own an Axe Fx from here forward.

Would you Mark IV experts by chance offer up some Axe Fx settings?

If there is one thing I`d really love, it`s going to see you with as many of the HOM`s as possible attending. I`d have ot have a return flight on thursday, though, because I`d get hammered, and trick as many innocent RT family fathers as I could with me :D
