Had a crack at the kill em All sound.

I think I really suffered from not having a real console eq. They boosted the crap out of that plexi track and I think that was the difference. I perhaps could have scooped a bit and the bass was a bit loud. Plus I recorded the solo off the cuff. So "remembering" it for the vid was comedy gold.

Great work man, that sounded just about a perfect recreation.

That's a labor of love right there. Very cool. Lots of fun info that I never knew and the guitar playing was great as usual!
Well done sir!

Thanks! It's such a gnarly sound. Dangerous if I listen when driving.

Phantom Lord is definitely my favorite off that album.

Dude, another great video. Thank you

Thanks! Glad you are watching the vids.

I'm learning more about recording from trying to match tones and researching than the usual YouTube tutorials etc.

Cheers!

It really is a labor of love. Cliff was shortchanged in that album. Of all the stuff I research his tone was the worst by a mile. Shame because he was so good.

It is so great. You can hear thier Motörhead love.

Plus...a clean mellow interlude? Signs of things to come. Same chord shape for phantom lord, sanitarium and fade to black. Reverse power chord. Haha.

I love your videos and think they come out sounding great.

I don't think you should say you created the "exact" studio gear but more along the lines of "I recreated the Metallica tone with the current gear I own". I only say this is because I know people who go all out with recreating the Metallica studio tones with era correct gear... amps, I am talking real Jose heads, Electra Vs and even later Metallica studio tones with IIC+'s, Aria basses, Tama drums etc.

Like I said I'm not trying to be a Negative Nancy   , just wanted to give you some feedback. I do love your videos and look forward to more. Also keep up the good work.

The Jose mod was actually a simple master volume mod. It wasn't his mod that he got famous for in this instance. My amp has the same mod.

So I was more specific in the title about the amp. But I'll watch my titles. Truth is we can't be sure 100% what was used on any album. They may use x y and z but only the person who mixed it will know what was kept and what was scrapped.

I take your point :-)

Dig the videos, fyn, nice work!

Thanks! I'm working on another thrash one.

This one I can faithfully say with confidence I used exact amp/setup as the original. Despite it being a rarity.
