I think I might be getting ripped off...

Ok so I found an Ibanez RG3120 for sale on Jemsite a few weeks ago for a pretty good price, so I messaged the guy selling it and told him I wanted it. We agreed on a price, and he also said he would install new pickups in it for me for an extra $50. He seemed like a cool dude, so I sent him the money and the pickups last Tuesday. I sent it overnight, which took 2 days for some reason, so he got it on Thursday. He sent me an email last Thursday, the 14th, saying...

"i will try to get the pickups installed tonight and ship it friday, if not i'll have it shipped monday for sure and that'll give me the weekend to get everything set and box it up."

I haven't heard anything from this guy since last Thursday, and the guitar hasn't showed up. I've been emailing him at his home and work email addresses and sending PM's on Jemsite, no responses at all. I've also been calling his cell phone...which he isn't answering.

Uh oh... Hopefully you have a way of recovering that money.

Haven't been there in awhile, choose one that has the greatest potential for exposure but word it carefully so your thread doesn't get deleted. :)

Yeah, you might be getting ripped off but the guy might have been in an accident or maybe he's in jail and can't call or email you. That doesn't really make it any better but give us the info and maybe someone can pay him a visit.

They kill flame wars pretty damn quick there but a " Does anyone know ______ Formite" thread with a brief detail of the issue may help and don't drop f-bombs everywhere.

There has been several scams over there from dorks selling crap.

Yeah I mean something could have happened to him, but it's just odd that the last time he emailed me was when he got the money, then nothing after that.

I have no intention of flaming the guy, I just want to get in contact with him to see what's going on so I can get my guitar from him.

I don't make any big purchases unless I go through Paypal AND/or use my credit card. There are too many dirtbags ripping people off on the to do transactions without insurance.
 
That is odd but - well it's actually odd that, if he was trying to rip you off from the start, once he had the money he why would he have gotten back in touch with you. You see what I mean? It's not like he was trying to buy some time so he could get out of town. Hell he may not have been able to install the pups and is all kinds of embarrassed and trying to find someone who can.

Yeah, that's true, but I dunno. I started a thread on Jemsite, so hopefully that will help. According to his profile, it says he hasn't been active on that forum since the 12th though. :(
 
Wow, they closed my thread on Jemsite...what the fuck??? I didn't even mention his user name or what guitar it was.
 
Where does he live? Maybe one of us lives close enough to knock on his door and ask him what the fuck is taking so long.
