yup ... that's a sweet ride !!!

too bad morons driving while talking on cell phones have furthered my lack of trust about other people on the road ...

shit I almost get popped at least once or twice a week now ... in my car .

if I was on a bike .... I'd be so defensive ... I think it would take any fun out of riding one

Dude, wearing a cab to hide the hearline, playing teles and now wanting a Harley..You ARE getting old hahahahaha

I want that bike REAL bad! Of course, I won't get it. I'd probably regret buying it the next day and I'm positive I wouldn't ride it much. I've never even ridden on a bike like that. I have zero experience with it.

But damn, that looks cool!!!

Chris

I always thought I would get killed if I ever got a bike so I put it out of my mind

I didn't realize you could get a cool kick ass HD in the $3,000-6,000 range. I had no idea. I thought they were always way more than that new or used. Shit, I paid $3,000 for that '71 Les Paul Custom. You get a hell of alot more for your money spending $3,000 for a Harley, ya know? Wow...

Maybe they are the more entry level model?

Yeah, I think a "Sportster" is considered that, but I still didn't realize you could get an older one for that price. That's not too bad, right?

My friend bought a Sportster (used) back in the early 90's, and he kind of described it as a good "beginner" Harley, said it was real fun to ride.

Before that he was riding Japanese Cruisers :)

yup ... you can get a decent Hog for that ... usually though .. you've got to be pretty handy with the tools .. for the upkeep . Unless your cool with paying a mechanic ...

also not that I'm a expert ... but anything before I think it's 87 or 88 ( late 80's sometime ) doesn't have the cushions ( or whatever they are called ) in the engine mounts or frame .

So your going to have one hell of a rough ride ... but if it's only a city kicker then

Yep - Here in MD people drive like f'ing idiots. I always tell my wife...that when I don't come home one day from riding - it will be a chick on a phone that got me.... I see stuff on a daily basis that makes my blood boil - and when you're on a bike - it's 100x worse. I ride a Honda VTX 1800F....and you have keep your head on a serious swivel around here.

Nice looking bike. Only thing is ... After riding it for awhile you'll want something bigger. The Sportster will beat ya up on the road

The older Hogs require more work, and have a rougher ride as stated. The new motors are much better.
Sporters are starter / chick bikes IMO, or at least get labeled by the Harley crowd as such so that's how it will most likely be perceived.

Sporters aren't too expensive, you could get a MUCH newer one for about the same price. I would not recommend to buy that one if you are iffy about it as it would be a harder resale than a newer one.

Yep, I've wanted to get a bike forever, but this reason has always stopped me. A friend of mine got killed riding a crotch rocket when an asshole pulled right out of a parking lot and t-boned her hard while he was trying to turn left. She wasn't speeding, either. I see chicks talking on the phone and putting makeup on all the time while driving. Its like they don't even realize they're driving like utter shit, either driving way too slow b/c they're on the phone or not looking where they're going. Its a real problem.

Sporsters always felt tiny for me but The few that I have ridden were lots of fun...

the following bikes are by this German guy named Macus Walz and I love his work;
