on most nights if you asked me "whats the best solo of the 80s??", id correctly respond with Every Rose Has Its Thorn. On those nights though that im listening to Like a Rock, it moves into a tie for #1. then i realize i dont have a slide and need one, what are the good glass slides? i want the good glass not that bullshit

I was going to say make your own but you want glass. I actually prefer glass. I always used a Dunlop glass one.

Probably get a pretty good deal on a 6 pack at this point

Here are the ones in my collection.

All the glass slides I made from wine bottles.

My main one,is the stainless steel slide in front.

I got it back in about ‘75 from a Texas blues player Dusty Hill.

He happens to be Dusty Hill’s (bass player ZZ Top) brother.

I use all my slides on my pinky, as I find it easier to play single notes and partial chords with my other fingers.

I've broken every glass slide I've owned, the last one was the Joe Perry slide, they sell it in that sealed plastic and trying to get it open the fuckin' slide shot out, hit the floor and smashed. Last glass slide I bought and just went with brass. I dig how the brass isn't quite as smooth as glass, it's a small variance but I prefer the way it feels when dragging it across the strings.

I started playing slide in 1976. Because of a injury I played nothing but slide for a year about 2009.

First thing you need to do is fine one that fits your hand properly.
Try a bunch. It will be obvious when you get the right one.

There is a zillion people that play slide...but there is only one Muddy Waters.
It's all about the vibrato.

I love what some guys do with it. The solo in Tush by ZZ Top was/is a standard for me. And the first time I heard Statesboro Blues as a kid it was a 'holy shit wtf is that!' moment.

But there ain't much worse than bad out of tune slide. Painful.
