What should I do? I was going to go Suhr reactive load IR but I have heard of more than a few people needing warranty service. I don't NEED the best, budget is a little limited. I was thinking the Rivera RockCrusher ad it is cheaper. Not sure about the fryette stuff, but I love fryette products. The two notes is a good way, but a of the models confuse me on what they do.

I would like to stay around $400 or less. Used off of Reverb or eBay. I have a good interface, use reaper, have DI's reampers, cables, etc.

I want something at this point that will get me 90% there.

Oh! And I need to be able to run a 4, 8, and a 16ohm load ideally. If not all three, at least 8 and 16 ohm.

You just need a Two Notes Captor (the regular $2xx one without IR) then you can load up IR's in your DAW using the Wall of Sound plugin.

I forgot to mention that I do still want to be able to use it with out a DAW.

If someone could explain how everything works for me it would be appreciated. I am not the most experienced and savvy DAW and recording gear user.

I would not mind one that could attenuate too. Or maybe just get a hot plate too?

Torpedo Captor X.

Then you have your load box/attenuator/IR-loader and more-needs covered.

I'm saying this as a Torpedo Live owner/user, who's also adamant about being able to use it without a DAW.

That is perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Should cover all needs and isn't far out of budget.

I am going to do some more research.

If anyone has suggestions, keep them coming!

Was just about to mention the Captor X. I've got the Captor and CabM and have been very happy with the results.

I will e hoe the Captor X as well but it is over your budget. Worth it though for sure. Here’s the vid I did at NAMM. Overview with Guillaume from two notes first then playthrough

I had a Rivera Rockcrusher Recording and it was pretty good. You actually use the 11-band eq on it to sim IRs, or you can bypass it and use a plugin in your DAW. I can't remember if it did 4/8/16, but I'm pretty sure it did 4/8 at a min.

You can also use it as an attenuator by itself, and I don't remember it coloring my sound at all.

I like the Suhr RL but for the money and the features that Captor X seems like a win. I have never used 2 notes hardware before and don't jive too well with the wall of sound personally.

I am thinking captor x. It's a bit above, but attainable.

If you went with the Suhr Reactive Load, you could add the Mooer Radar pedal for cab IR’s. I did this for a while, it works great. No DAW or PC needed at all to play. Mooer has a little program to add/remove cab IR’s.

That still doesn't allow playing without a DAW, as the OP stated as a requirement.
The Captor X *will* cover what the Suhr + DAW can do as a stand-alone unit.
And it's only marginally over budget, so...save up and rock on!

The first post said he was using Reaper and I missed his later post saying he wanted to work also without a DAW.

Back to lurking...

Palmer PDI 03. It has been used in pro situations for decades now, more than most the competition. And it's 100% analog. I have one here and use it all the time live and in the studio. In the studio you can take a line out and use IRs if you don't want to use the built-in emulation (although I like the sound of the Palmer's own emulation). Live, it sounds amazing on it owns and cuts through the mix better than most digital cab. You wouldn't believe how many major players have used Palmers as their FOH sound over the years...

The cost to benefit ratio is high. I will wait a little bit longer and get the Captor X.

The cost
