I went and did it... Again.. EVH 50 watt incoming!

To be fair, I never got to play the EVH with Greenbacks, or a decent 4x12, for that matter. Just a couple Thieles, and a 1960, which I don't think is a good match for it. So, since loading my Randall 4x12 with Greenbacks, and liking the results with the Thrasher, I decided to go for it. Will it send the Thrasher packing? We'll see! For the record, I went with the 6L6. Too much bad press about the EL34, and the blue channel. My luck, they'll fix it, come NAMM next month.

I'm actually chomping at the bit to see how the Savage Drive sounds with it. I was selling it in the Classifieds, but I'm sure I'll still have it when the EVH shows up!

I really liked the EL34 50 watt that I just sold last weekend with a 1960B with greenies. Went a little gear crazy last year and something had to go so off it went.

Every time I fire mine up I am reminded why it has and will stay after all the others leave..just do some preamp tube rolling and you will be good to go.

Yep, good tubes do wonders in the EVH.

When I had my 5150 50 watt a few years ago I found the stock JJs worked the best

Just a Tungsol in V1 wakes it up!

I have a select low noise GT in V1. Don't know what it is. Made the tone richer, smoother.
I put a Ruby HG in one of the gain spots to clear up some of the darkness.
I also put an old VHT labeled tube in the PI. It just made the amp "feel" better. Otherwise, all JJs everywhere else.

Great snag. I'm telling you man of any show I have ever seen, Eddie's tone thru the EVH and greenbacks when I saw them just absolutely killed.

I've got the el34 50 watt head. Got it on a trade, profiled it with my Kemper.
