I'm looking at picking up a 7 string for some lower tuning options. At the moment, I'm looking at the Ibanez RG7321FM. I'd love to hear any opinions that you guys might have on this guitar. I'd love to get a RG 7 with a trem, but you have to get into the prestige models to do so, and I really don't want to drop that much coin just to see if I'm gonna dig having the extra string. At any rate, here what the guitar looks like.

Can you tell me if the "maple top" is really a maple top, or just photo flame? Thanks guys!

I looked at the 7620, but they are going for just under $1k on the bay. Don't have that to spend right now.

:aww: Last year, I saw a ton go for around $450 to $500...

I don't really get the 25.5 deal with 7 strings. Just put the lower 6 strings on your regular 6 stringer & see if it does anything for you. Maybe if you dig it & you decide you need one more upper string, then try a 7 stringer in 25.5.

Not sure if it's a veneer or a photo-flame, but honestly as thin as the veneer would be it doesn't really make any difference. I don't really care for the necks on the 7321s, they're too flat and square for my tastes. Also the stock pickups in 7321s are some of the worst pups ever.

You may want to sign up at http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/ and watch the guitar classifieds, as you can certainly get a 7620 or 7621 for $500 with a little patience, and they blow away the 7321s (I've owned both).

Those RG7620s for 1K are NOS, but they aren't actually selling. Used they sell pretty regularly for $4-600. In the last 2 weeks 3 sold on ebay ranging from 445-615 (the one for $615 had upgraded pups). I recently bought one off craigslist for $325 and it was near mint.

RG1527s go for 6-850 depending on the year and condition.

Either model you're going to have to upgrade the pups, but the stock pups in the 7620 are better than those in the 1527.

Dang Joel... houston.craigslist.org
