These guitars have really caught my eye -- love the look. From everything I read and hear (online) the neck profile, features, and tone all seem like something that appeals to me. But I've never seen one "in the flesh". I don't know about the quality, the weight, or the "real" tone.

Anybody else have any experience with these? There's the one with 3 single coils and now there's a limited edition version in an HSH configuration. What do these feel and sound like (compared to other guitars)?

Thanks,
Ron

I wanted one and found one on EBay with a headstock break that looked ugly but very sound for a decent price and rolled the dice.

-Chunky neck profile, decent fret work. Not jumbos, kinda medium and tall.
-the Injectors are really cool pickups. I'm serious, they are killer.
-The 5-way failed and that is pretty common so I replaced it for $15.00
-The volume and the tone are swapped position-wise. I don't like that but not worried enough to change it.
-The pickups can get meaty to single-coily via the tone control so that works as advertised for sure.
-I struggled with keeping it in tune so I replaced the tuners with locking hip shots and that solved that problem.
-on a personal note, I play in more of a classical position with more of the guitar on my left leg vs. right (I'm a righty). The weird curve on the bottom is a little uncomfortable in that position but is likely fine for 90% of the world.
So, for an additional $100 dollars, you make a already good guitar a really great guitar.

With all of that said, I really do like it. A lot. It plays great and sounds excellent. Excellent enough where I am also considering getting the new version with the humbuckers. It has a neat feature where you can lock-down intonation and the bridge height. Not sure if that makes a difference but it seems to make sense.

For the price, I say it's worth a try.

I dig them when Pablo Gilberto plays them but I don't think I could because of that penis for the top horn. ;)

...that must be the subliminal appeal...

Gilbert has a surf green fireman with dual hums that he played on the "Return to Budokan" dvd that I'd love to have. Or one like it anyway.

For the locking tuners, did you have to drill any new holes?

Yeah...I wanted to use the Hip Shot UMP but it didn't line up
