For those of you have have played or own an Ibanez J-Craft, what can you tell me about them? Are they high quality guitars, or are they just marked up standard production instruments? Pics are welcome.

I have a J Custom that I'm selling/trading in the classifieds here to fund other gas...

They are incredibly high quality - the fret work is the best I've ever seen. The way they round off the fret at each end is beautiful. The guitar quality and playability, fit and finish are right up there with Suhr, Anderson, etc.

I think anyone that has seen/played a J Custom would say the same thing...

That's nice, but J Craft and J Custom are 2 different things. J Craft is just the standard Prestige line.

The J-Custom I had sounded like total ass. The quality was nice, but I would say Suhr and Anderson are slightly nicer IMO. And like Tommy said, he's asking about the Prestige guitars that just have the Team J-Craft logo on the back of the headstock and case.

No, you're wrong and so is Tommy - my guitar has the Team J-Craft logo on the back of the headstock and the case and it is a J Custom. Sorry yours sounded like ass...

That's nice, but you're wrong. Both Prestige and J Customs are J Craft... Thanks for playing though...

Mine is a J-Craft, not a J-Custom (RG770DX Reissue...). Even so, it plays better out-of-the-box than any other guitar I've had. The quality on it is impeccable and (sadly) much better than any of the Gibson SG's I played before deciding to buy it. It's my first Ibanez and definitely won't be my last.

Speaking of which, I'm seriously lusting after the bad-ass yellow one sah5150 has for sale

Gentleman, J-Craft is the Ibanez Prestige line and not the same thing as a J Custom which is the best that Ibanez offer.

That said, the Prestige guitars are very nice.

Gentlemen,

You're all wrong... except for Ayrton who is right... oh, and Steve, who is right.

That's what I though, but why does Steve's J-Custom say Team J-Craft on it? Mine didn't and I always thought that was just something they put on Prestige models?

THat is weird, never saw the J-Craft sticker on a JC before.

All I know is that bitch mrsparkle has a burst for japan only RG with scraped binding that is HAWT!!!!!

Agreed. I'd take a Suhr Modern over an Ibanez J-Custom anyday.

So what exactly does the Team J-Craft thing even mean then?
Team J-Craft are the dudes that make the J Custom and Prestige guitars... or it may all be marketing hype...

Steve

J Craft is just the name that goes on the guitars built at the Fujian plant. The J Custom line is built separately by Ibanez best luthiers, but still come out of the same plant as the MIJ Prestige.

Yes, Prestige are not handmade. J Customs are handmade... jemsite.com forums has a whole thread on this where a guy from the company responds and explains. I think the "Team J Craft" thing may just be marketing after all...

Steve

Ibanez contracts out to Fujigengakki for all it's MIJ guitars, both the Prestige and the J-Customs. Handmade or not, though I'm sure the J-Custom bodies and necks start life on a CNC machine. Hoshino/Ibanez themselves don't build production guitars, only prototypes/one-offs and endorser customs, they hire factories to make them.

Team J-Craft = Fujigengakki.
