The only things I don't like are the gold hardware and the single coil ears being shown, should be hidden like the HBs..

OMG!! If you look on Jemsite someone is saying that the winning entry CHEATED. He violated the rules of the contest. The rules state that the art "must be the artist's own original work and not made publicly available anywhere else."

From Official Rules:
Entrants design:
"must be the exclusive original work of the entrant and made for the JEM contest;"

I'm a moron. I should have entered the damned contest. I had a Steampunk Jem and a "Little Green Jem" design based on using layers of paint and salt crystals for the finish. Not saying mine would have been so much better or anything. I really dig the winning entry, but I would like to have seen if either would have made the finals. :-( What an ass I am.
 
It's OK.
I've seen better.
And if the winner stole the image, he should be shot.
Many people did hand artwork, and didn't place.
