Can someone tell me what FR trem I have here. It has a brass looking block, "Made in Gemany" stamped into the bottom and only says "Floyd Rose" on the top. there is no licescensed by, or original, or anything like that. I am also surprised to see the block does not have a US patent #. Is it possible this is a very early one? Any info would be helpfull

Thats an original Floyd Rose from the 80s most likely. The old ones only said made in Germany. Probably worth $150 with claw and nut on Ebay.
Now that I look again it has a collared tremolo bar, so that is somewhat newer unless that was changed. The originals have a threaded bar.

No, it isn't a very early one as the very early ones, of course, had no fine tuners. I bought several (very early) NOS non-fine tuner Floyds from Steve Ripley a couple of years ago for ~ $125 a piece - these were not the re-issues. So, regardless of whether this is an early fine tuner Floyd, I can't see why this would be worth any more than any other used Floyd...

I believe the off set Floyd Rose logo indicates it's an early run. And the saddles look like it too. Not worth more or less money. Unless your me and want it to have a more accurate bridge for my Kramer 5150 replica!

What's that hole drilled near the logo?

Also non fine tuner Floyds are being made again. So it may be tough to tell (if it's aged) what's new or old and does it matter? Probably not much. Non fine tuner Floyds are a pia.

Thanks for your help folks. I do not know what the hole is, ther is one on the other side too. i am sure the previous owner must have drilled it for some reason. It was that way when I got it on this Kramer 5150 looking frankenstrat that i am parting out.

I have several of the German Floyd Roses that have the threaded bar and the collared bar and yours looks like what I have..probably mid to late 80's early 90's..really popular on the Kramers sold and used on many of the models as in Baretta,Carrera,Showmaster etc.

Absolutely not true. They work great with locking tuners on the guitars I've used them on...

I've got no first hand experience with them but Guthrie uses them and Pete Thorn is getting a Suhr axe loaded up with one now too.
