Hi there, strange question maybe: has anyone ever tried to use a 2 - 3 m long cable between his transmitter and antenna to be able to mount the antenna in a higer position and keep the transmitter in it's rack ?

I've bought a rackmixer + an IEM unit to be able to use headphones from the FOH position. I used it the first time this weekend and found that a relatively small crowd between me and the antenna interferes with the signal.

When asking the IEM manufaturer for a longer cable they said they adviced against it because the signal would get too weak that way.

Another option I think would be to stick the transmitter in the air with it's antenna straight into it but that's more of a hassle with all of the cables and aesthetically less pleasing ;-)

Does anyone have any insight in this ?

Thanks !

If you bought a cheaper unit you get what you pay. If you got something spend then I don't know. I use a higher end Sennheiser. Works flawless. I walked to the corner store at practice and I could still hear the band. Probably 100-300 feet away.

It's an LD Sytems MEI 1000 so indeed one of the cheaper ones. With no people blocking I also got around 75-100 mtrs. To add to the OP: it wasn't like it was unusable but I could hear some glitches now and again.

You're better off with a better unit. My sennheiser came with the rack extension that allows the antenna to connect to the front of the extension as it's usually in the back of the unit.

If you want to remote the antenna, they make a 10m antenna cable, WS100C-10. Which will probably work without the amplifier-the WS-100AB. With no specs, it's hard to tell how far you can go, but I'll guess you should go 50m using the amplifier.

I really appreciate your effort Mike but as far as I understand it that booster is solely for the wireless mic which is mono obviously.

I guess it's gonna be mounting the transmitter in a pole instead of just the antenna
