Hello all,

Went into the local shop to BS with the owner, who I've known for quite a long time now.
Got to looking around the shop and saw a cool gold top hanging up.

Picked it up to play and immediately said "This has some magic" when I felt it.

Really wildly great feeling guitar. The polar opposite of anything I could have ever seen myself even in a room with when I was younger.

Even at being able to get it at a very good price for what it is (Around half off brand new), I just can't.

I considered trading in my 1969 Dakota red Fender Mustang toward it.

Idk..... Opportunities only pop up so often and I am seriously thinking about it.

Should have snapped some pics when I was in there but it is this model:

One of the best sounding Les Pauls I have ever owned
So of course I sold it
This may sound shocking but I didn't even plug it in for my assessment.

There were no good amps around/in the shop.

Damn, what an axe to have to part with.

Got it from Marks Guitar Loft, was on a Les Paul streak at the time
Will likely get a 50s std goldtop w p90s at end of yr

FWIW, I'd buy it now. And here's a long story about why:

Once, I found a killer Strat at the local music store during my lunch break. It was perfect sounding and feeling. But I told myself I didn't need another guitar and went back to work. By the time the workday ended, I realized I had made a horrible mistake not buying it on the spot and rushed back, but someone else had bought it. I was crushed.

Silver lining, though - a few years later, a guitar that was the same model and year came up on the local Craigslist, so I met with the guy to try it and buy it. About 30 seconds into playing it (and it was also killer), the guy stopped me and asked if I had been at that very same music store a few years ago. Turns out he heard me playing it that day on my lunch break and liked the sound so much that he bought it, then sold the exact same guitar to me three years later.

TL;DR - buy it while you can. Otherwise you might have to wait a few years for another chance...if you're lucky enough to get another chance.

From experience, if you can grab it... grab it! You been thinking about it.. made a post about it. If someone buys that particular your probably gonna be pissed. Its not all the time guitars speak to you, just sucks when you have to listen with your wallet.

Gibson CS guitars are kind of hit or miss in my experience. If you pick one up that has that thing that draws you in, you should take it home if possible.

I let a few slip past back when they were cheaper, just recently found this 57 RI locally for $3k

I wouldn't even hesitate but I hate Mustangs.
I am not a fan really myself, I was just able to get a great deal on it. It honestly sounds great, unlike any of the modern ones I have played that sound all thin. This one has some punch going on.

The only issue is that I feel like if I tried to do the trade-in, the value just wouldn't be there. Idk, maybe I should just list up the Mustang at a good price to try to get it out the door real quick.

That's what I can get this one for, maybe even a touch less.

There is a lot to think about. Idk, I may end up talking with him about trying to trade in a couple of things, I just know they are all about cash right now (Full inventory).

Definitely don't have just 3k to drop in the 'fuck it bucket'.
