If you purchased a new guitar and saw this? Would you send it back

I just received it today and saw a few issues. The case was scuffed, The action was 3 feet of the board, the skunk stripe was not real flush, most of al the frets had corrosion and were dull, looks like rust, This is a New CS Charvel from the dealer too.

Yeah back to the dealer for sure. That is not your problem. If I knew and liked the dealer I might talk to them and ask if they'd rather I send it back or send it to my choice of luthier on their dime.

Baffling that a Charvel custom shop dealer would let a guitar out the door without at least looking at it, checking the action etc.

Yeah back to the dealer for sure. That is not your problem. If I new and liked the dealer I might talk to them and ask if they'd rather I send it back or send it to my choice of luthier on their dime.

Baffling that a Charvel custom shop dealer would let a guitar out the door without at least looking at it, checking the action etc.

That was my thought, they are a Big Charvel dealer as well. Its like they put it a box and away it went

I have to wonder if whatever caused the fret wear (which I would assume would be extreme humidity or something) would be the same thing that caused the skunk stripe to get funky and maybe even the neck to warp, putting the action that high. I've heard of acoustic guitars hung up on non-interior walls next to open windows where the light, heat, and humidity fluctuate like crazy having similar effects where the whole body gets warped to the point of looking like a question mark, and the guitar gets ruined, and I have to imagine electric guitars would see maybe less extreme but similar effects under the same conditions.

Either way, if there's a foundational issue with a guitar that can't be fixed with a few straightforward maintenance methods (like the messed up skunk stripe), send it back.

Well its a well known dealer, so you would think they would have dehumidifiers in the shop as they are in the northeast.

For a Custom Shop? I would have called them as soon as I saw that! With the prices they are today, they need to step up their game.
