Have a new to me IIC+. Was serviced 2-3 years ago. Checks out as factory IIC+ DRG. Every day I play it I am in love. Just wanted to have some knowledgeable folk look over the pictures Incase if anything I need to be aware of. Serial 13673 with RP11A boards and 105 transformer.

I'm no expert but I had one like that, and from the pics I took of it, nothing stands out as different.

I’m not seeing anything either. I’m just trying to make sure wrote it’s too late!

Looks good to me..but...if it was serviced 2-3 yrs ago, I would think Mike B would have changed all those blue filter caps? They look to me that they are from 83 based on the numbers on the side. When I get home I can look at my C+ Coliseum to double check mine, it's been 18 months since Mike upgraded it. My caps should have some recent dates on them.

All the caps, filter and board electrolytic are original. So I'd probably replace those. The 4 large silver and 3 blue. Not sure what was serviced in that amp... everything looks original? New tubes and bias checked? The amp was dropped at some point... dropped hard. The chassis is bent/pulled upwards on both sides by the rear mounting screw holes... you can clearly see it on the edge of the chassis by the black heat sink on the back. The chassis can be bent back, but you have to know what you are doing because you can crack a pcbs in the process. The PT has rust on it... a fair amount. There maybe other things, but it does not appear to have been modified. The amp is original... but not worth what the seller was asking.

Send it to Mesa or the only 2-3 of the "decent" Mesa authorized techs. Don't take it to Jim-Bob the Ham-Radio guy that lives down yonder.

+1 to what you said. The only thing "serviced" was probably lip service... "That'll be $350 please. I went over everything." LOL.

The newer filter caps they are using come from BMI and don't have any date codes on them anymore iirc.

A lot of times people consider “serviced”, putting in a new set of tubes.

This is one thing I don’t like about Boogie. They check the 30 year old caps and say they are fine. When I send in my Boogie for service I always ask for new caps.

I noticed the chassis as well when I pulled it. Checked it all out, had an acquaintance who is a great tech check it out (not doing anything other than looking and making a safety check), everything looks good otherwise, as far as working order. I’m going to leave the chassis as is, I dont plan on selling. If I ever did I would send to Mesa first anyhow. Works flawlessly and sounds like a dream, I like it more than my other (60/100), more rounded and a tad less aggressive.
On another note, is that rust something I should worry much about, or just a heads up? And yea, I got it more that $1000 less than he was asking! I appreciate the info and help man, thank you, truly!

Awesome, thank you. Not sure what they serviced, could have just been retubing and check up, who knows. I reached out to Mesa, just waiting for return. The seller has a stash of IIC+ and IIIs!

If it's quiet, I'd leave the caps.

It sounds like a million bucks! It’s quiet...ish! Scared me as it has a sputtering and hiss that remains while playing, is annoying. Rolled the preamp tunes and found the culprit. My backup tunes are pretty non existent so it’s still in there.
Just ordered Mullard i61, 1 Tungsgram, 3 new Mullards and 2 Shuguang, so all is good!

You did okay then. ;)
For the rust depends open who you ask. I tend to avoid it as once it reaches the layers, it will cause the PT to fail. Just depends on when/how long... and a lot of the value of these amps is tied to the original transformers... like a vintage pre-1970 Marshall.

What you said about the tone is on the mark. Also why I tend to prefer thew HRG models... but I play metal. Not much rock, jazz, blues etc. The HRG is a bit more aggressive, focused, with more cut. The DRG Simul-Class is a bit rounder, smoother, forgiving.

I want to send it to Mesa before the year is out, I’ll check on the transformer and rust!

Here’s the amp as of Tuesday!
