I've owned well over 50 guitars throughout the 40 years I've been playing. I've owned guitars from Fender, Gibson, PRS, Suhr, Tom Anderson, Hamer, Jackson, Charvel, ESP... you name it, but it seems the one brand I always have on hand is an Ibanez. The Japan made basswood bodied models from the late 80's to early 90's just work for my style of playing. I found this guitar on ebay. I know it looks dated, and I'm usually not a fan of gold hardware, but I think this thing looks killer. I think it's a little overpriced and located in Japan, so I'll take a pass. I think this will be a budget guitar project in my future!

I have an Ibanez RG550 that I have had since 1990. It literally will not go out of tune.

I never had more fun playing guitar than when I had several RG550s, RG770s, etc.. Out of all of them I really miss my RG565, I'll never find one in that condition again.

That being said, that dude is on crack if he thinks he's getting $1200 for a Black RG770 without a maple neck. Too plain jane.

Have to agree, great sounding/playing guitars.....really fun to play and fun to customize as well!

I have a couple of MIJ RG 7420's that I love. I'm a sucker for the AANJ.

Let me get that Blue RG565! :gethim:

How can you not be really? They are iconic and some of the best all-around instruments ever made!

For starters, 7 Stringer wins. Damn, man, there's a lot of "want" in those pictures

I have a Ruby Red RG770DX Reissue that I've owned for a number of years. Bought it new for a stupid price. The action is in the weeds and it NEVER goes out of tune. Rock. F'n. Solid. Rock machine...

FYI, I don't believe that is a late 80's/early 90's because it has the AANJ. This joint began in '94 and that guitar looks to be even later.

Love my Ibbys. I learned to play on the blue '90 770 which I bought new.

2001 J. Custom

That J custom is sweet. I could never jive with the skinny necks but dig Prestiges and the nicer RG's. Never cared for for the Ibanez pickups in the late 80's early 90's guitars though.

Early J. Custom profiles were much thicker than the Wizard and Prestige profiles.

I'm the opposite, after playing early Ibanez necks and feeling how paper thin they are, I couldn't jive with anything else. The stock pickups are almost all garbage on the early 90s models, the only one I never changed pickups out of are the RG770s I've owned. The bridge pickup is a gained up Tone Zone, I don't know if it's better, but definitely one of the best stock pickups Ibanez offered.

i still have my rg520qstb. from 2000/2001? it's a nice guitar - especially after replacing those ibanez pickups lol....other than maybe an ibanez destroyer though i don't think i'll get any more ibanez. i've discovered i'm a fan of the big thick necks on 70's strats. i still like the rg though - keepin it

i'm playing my rg in the youtube link in my signature actually lol

I'm glad you guys found what works for you. I've tried so many ibanez guitars but never could gel with them. I wish I could. I had one of the old sabres and it was just so comfortable. I just couldn't get it to sound beefy. They make some really great trems
