So I am breaking some V30s in one of my Fryette cabs. The previous owner of the speakers told me that they had around 4 hours of play time on them and that is nowhere near broken in. What I decided to do was play some guitar tracks that I have recorded through them at high volume. I just hooked up a PA power amp to the cab and sent the tracks from ProTools to the amp and it is working fine.

My question is, should I change up what I am playing through the speakers or are the guitar tracks enough to get it done? I plan on doing it over the next couple weeks a few hours a day. :D

If you can stand listening to it, a bass heavy source like Hiphop will break them in alot faster. A totally clean tone will work faster too as its much less compressed, so the transitents will work the speakers harder.

....Exactly what he said...

Yep - a sonic hum charged by a car battery will do it too.

Moderate volume, full sonic range, consistent and intermittent signal pushing, 20 hours.

Peace!!

PS - and FWIW, of ALL the amp speakers out there that really REALLY need to get worked in and sound so much better once they are worked in?? It's the V30's - damn straight, they go from hell to bell once worked in

variac. but you are not going to want to be around it when doing this.

Yep, same kinda idea... This is the worst noise to listen to, but it does the job ACE!!!

LOL! Quit fucking around and just play the shit out of them dude.

Yeah, it is pretty night and day between a quad of Hellatone V30s and the quad of new V30s. And then there are my 11 year old V30s which are so rich and deep it is insane.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely use them.
