I'm sure some already know this but Peavey has been having financial issues for a while and has been down-sizing it's operations. They are closing down Meridian

I have spoken to several people I know and they had assured me the worst would not happen but it in fact has...
There are no more USA 6505 120 watt heads any more period being made.
I know this because I had a brand new 6505 on back order for a few months and it just came in last week...
The first thing I noticed was the packaging and box is totally different inside and out from the usual Peavey 6505's.
Upon opening the box and removing the head I immediately noticed the power cord was much slimmer than the usual 6505 and felt really cheap like a wet noodle. The amp had this really strong glue/chemical/manufacturing smell coming from it that I have never noticed on any Peavey. The head shell also seemed to be slightly thinner on the top front than on the sides and bottom.
I thought the "thinness" on top could be a QA issue because the bottom of the head shell was slightly bowed downward in the front leaving a sizable gap in the middle between the chassis and head shell but not so much on the ends closer to the power switches and input jacks.
As I set it up plugged it in I just felt something was wrong/different about the amp.
While it looked like a brand new 6505 at first glance, it felt a bit scaled back in terms of the cosmetic build... I am very picky and notice these things instantly.
Sure enough I realized the made in USA tags were not hanging from the handle!!!
I looked on the back and crapped egg rolls... It now says "MADE IN CHINA"
I plugged it in and played it very briefly and while it sounded decent and like a 6505, I could not accept that this American classic and piece of metal history was now made in China and just stopped and shut it off.
I know for sure they have now made some slight changes outside and the QA is lower than before. I have no clue if they had tried to cut costs on the inside/guts... I doubt they have changed the circuit though.
Anyway while some may not really notice at all, the slight cut backs on the out side are obvious to someone picky like me. I packed it up and in the process of sending it back for a full refund end of story... The price is the same but IMO it is not the same USA amp to me at all and not worth it.
I think Peavey might have cut their throats by doing this and should have just raised the prices like Mesa and Marshall and a everybody else to keep this amp made in the USA
All your USA made 5150's and 6505's have just become more valuable IMO...
Yes, I'm both "Peeved" and disappointed to see the end of an era for Peavey and the 6505...
