Creating this thread to keep Dan's idiotic ramblings from derailing another.
Go over to the globe earth grifting thread if you want to read the full transcript. For brevity, let's recap from that thread.
Dan said somethign stupid about eveyone here hating on brown people, gays, women & others who are different. I replied with that was an amusing assessment coming from him who's made comments alluding to Mexican migrants only being good for picking crops & cleaning toilets.
Dan then played victim with something about I'm spinning it as him looking down on migrants because he personally witnessed his neighbor being dragged out their home by faceless cowards. I replied he was the one talking about migrants doing jobs that Americans won't do like that's all their good for and noted never recalling a time him saying anything about migrants being professionals.
His response to that was tell me there isn't an intrinsic link between migrants & service/farming industry. That was a wow moment for me. Way for Dan to say he doesn't look down on immigrants by associating them all with menial labor like they're no better than that. I noted that a good portion of my collogues are 1st/2nd generation migrants all working a lab scientists.
His last response was to double down on migrants only being worth cleaning his house or other service/agriculture industry jobs.
Picking it up from where we left off...
@Dan Gleesak
Yes, there is a correlation between migrant workers and service/agriculture. I don't have exact numbers, but migrants do make up a decent portion of those industries; with around 50% being unauthorized to work in the US. While that is true, this isn't where my first thoughts go. When I hear someone migrating to and being authorized to work in the US I think of someone who's looking to further their life goals with opportunities afforded here. My mind doesn't automatically go to oh good people to pick crops and clean toilets. I also don't think of those jobs as being "low class." I don't look down on any honest work regardless of the profession. So far everything you've said and alluded to makes it appear you think agriculture and service jobs and those who work in that industry are beneath you.
