I know, what an idiot for trying to preserve his rights from overzealous pigs. What an idiot. His downfall was when he proceeded to say to the cop "What's the problem, are you a tyrant"

I totally support the police, but the man in this video had multiple constitutional right violations (4th and 14th amendments). Once he showed that he didn’t have a weapon, reasonable articulable suspicion was gone and the officer had no reason or right to ID him. He was not committing any crime and was freely walking on public property. Those officers were wrong and took revenge when the man knew his rights and wanted their names and badge numbers for a complaint. We don't have a police problem we have a non compliance problem .
All true, but like I said here before.. you have to understand the nature of most street cops.I totally support the police, but the man in this video had multiple constitutional right violations (4th and 14th amendments). I always comply. One thing I do during traffic stops is to immediately roll down my windows and place my hands out of the driver window. This way police know where my hands are. They usually ask why I do it, which gives me the opportunity to tell them I went to school for criminal justice, have friends that are cops and understand they have a dangerous job, plus I want them to feel at ease. This usually gets me out of a ticket. I’m never a dick like some of these people on videos. All true, but like I said here before.. you have to understand the nature of most street cops.
They're dumb, low paid, angry, and they're on a power trip.
99% of the time, you handle a street situation the way this guy did and the judges and DA's are gonna back up the cops' bullshit. This guy might get lucky and win a lawsuit, many years down the road.
Maybe, maybe not.officer had no reason or right to ID him.
A pedestrian violation is likely a secondary offense. Yeah, they can ID him for it, but it’s a thin line. He was told he was stopped for what looks like a gun/weapon. Once he showed that it wasn’t, probable cause was just removed. Now they go on to secondary offenses? Getting the ID now allows them to check for warrants, previous arrests, etc. None of which was why he was originally stopped. He wasn’t breaking any laws. I don’t believe Fl is a stop and ID state. Not true.
A. I've read in a couple of different places he committed a pedestrian violation. Whether it's CYA or not, I don't know, wasn't there, but regardless, even taking the cane out of the picture, he could have still been issued a citation for the violation therefore ID is necessary.
B. There are departments that have or had to work under a DOJ agreement and under that agreement, information must be collected for every person an officer has contact with if an arrest is not made for DOJ tracking purposes to make sure there's no "racial profiling"
Yes, I believe the situation may have had a better way to handle it. But the guy was an asshole from minute 1. HE dictated how that stop went. Nobody knows his prior history. He may be an asshole that purposely walks around trying to bait officers into "violating their rights". They do exist.
