No offense to any guy who is doing something truly unique ( i have yet to see something like that ) but as far as mods go, were all doing very similar things. Adding tube gain stages, fine tuning existing satges, jose mv's with the diodes, converting a cathode following tone stack to a plate driven tone stack, even the so called hottest ticket in town , the new AFD is just duplicating v1b on a 2203, using a lower value like 220k on both voltage dividers etc. Cascade mods, RR mods, one wire mods all these different names for basically the same thing..........shop around, do a little reading, youll be glad you did. I whip out three high gain mods in the past 2 weeks. 3 months for anything he should be building you a new amp.

I like this post

dig the bad ass wood on some your amp heads.

I'm not Glen Morris...just a proud supporter/fanatic
(if I'm understanding your comment properly :) )

I as well.

Now Jerry, feel free to send me one of those Triple Stage combo's, with a master and a loop.

I had the Golub mod and it was nuclear! Perfect Doug Aldrich tone. I would say that he does a lot of work inside and nice work at that. It isn't just your .022 over a 2.7, he does some pretty neat things that makes his pretty unique sounding. Gets clever with how he uses power for the extra gain stage on mine and he also had a copper shield to prevent noise. Very nice work!

well sounds good sir. even though I would never put a .022 over the 2.7k. :)
prolly does phenominal work.

absolutely, some of these two dollar two minute mods for these ridiculous prices is just crazy, mostly due to internet hype and name dropping.
It is lack of knowledge more than hype. If people knew how easy it is to solder in some of these mods, they'd be less likely to pay a fortune for them...

a good friend of mine recently had a MV and an effects loop installed on a NMV Marshall for $700.00, does that sound like a good deal?
I'd happily accept that much for that work...

it was a good deal for the tech. thats like maybe $300 , maybe $400 at the absolute highest . I do a tube loop for $250 and the metro one a little cheaper than that

My Golub mod cost me 300$ at the time (Crunch Mod), which I thought was fair.
My Caswell cost me 450$, and had a lot more options than the Golub.

it was a metro loop I believe

Metro loop kit 90 bucks, PPIMV kit 13 bucks, paying 700 for the install = GANG RAPE by Pacino and friends.

It's like getting your vehicle fixed. I just paid $1100 for an exaust leak, $150 in parts and the rest labor. Bang!

isnt Martin Golub's crunch mod the SE+ mod that John Suhr did for custom audio when he was there???? im pretty damn sure that its John's mod that Martin uses right?

maybe a few tweeks for the specific amp that being modded
