It's not anything spectacular, but I'm pretty stoked about grabbing it. I just bought a Hondo H880 Explorer style bass. This is the one that's made of laminated ash/walnut/maple. Considering it's a Hondo I probably overpaid a little bit but I've been waiting for one of these to pop up for a good while now; at least a few years.
A long while back I happened across the Explorer shaped guitar with the same laminate construction and picked it up. A little while later the V shaped one came up and I got it too. They were pretty cheap and I really love the natural multi wood look. At some point I decided I wanted to get the rest of the Hondo guitars with that same look. I think I got lucky with the Explorer and V. They show up for sale every so often; maybe a couple of times a year. The LP one was an easy find as they seem to be all over the place. The rest don't seem to come up very often. The ones I got were the only ones I've seen for sale in the last 5-6 or so years. I've only seen one other explorer bass for sale in that same time frame. But it was beat to jell so I passed. Anyway, this explorer bass was the 2nd to last one I needed. I still haven't found the Strat with single coil pickups yet.
I'll post my own pics when it arrives along with some "family" photos. For now this is a pic from the listing.
