I guess lots of modern high gainers can be used for that Rammstein & Ministry type tone, but what are the ideal ones?

A scooped Recto?
Something Engl?
Marshall?
Solid state Randall?

I just bought the new Ministry album, and as they always are, it's awesome.

So, what's super tight, somewhat sterile, clear and very compressed that can handle mega triplets and has infinite sustain?

Diezel (.)
VH4
Herbert
Hagen
Even a Einstein can do it with the right cab.
Engls would work great too.
But maybe Mr. Ola Englund will chime in?

Good point, his SATAN amp could probably be dialed in to do the trick.

I'm surprised how the Uberschall wasn't mentioned already

I think an Engl Powerball would be great for that type of stuff honestly. It has a really cold, evil high gain sound!

I think Rammstein are kinda known for using Rectos, though, so that's gotta be a good choice!

I'd go Recto with a Boost. IMHO a Recto with a Tube Screamer slaughters for detuned metal, industrial, viking, puke, or any type of metal.

Axe FX
Marshall Mode 4
SS Randall
L6 HD147
L6 Vetta
Recto

I'll mention it right now... The TJ specifically.

I've been jamming some Ministry - Bad Blood in particular. Hagen's 4th channel does it spot on.

Mo

dont forget the crate vh140

countless albums.

doesn't really get any more cold and sterile for high gain, unless you build some sort of preamp/power amp rig.

For a long time one of the Rammstein boys was using a Tech 21 Sansamp PSA.1 with a poweramp and Recto cab - Their sound was Recto one side Sansamp the other -

Below is what I'm using for industrial metal. The other two guitarist in the band use a Mesa Triple Rect, and a Mesa Road King.

Rammstein plays Rectifiers...

I don't know, I prefer my industrial to be more Godfleshy, less guitar rock.

I should specify that the Ministry tone is more my goal. Especially the last 5 albums. Mostly Tommy Victors tone on those releases I guess. I think it's mostly Marshall MG heads actually.

Maybe I should just get an 8100 or MG for like $250 ??? :dunno:

Being a big SS fan for metal I'd go for an 8100 and an EQ pedal.
Old Randall's w/eq's are also great and very loud for SS.
The Madison Prophecy is pure evil right out of the box w/o any EQ's, but they are very hard to find now.

The more I think of it, the more the A2 makes sense for this "genre" of tone.

I beg to differ with you as far as this album being good. They should have stopped at The Last Sucker and gone out on a high note. Did the movie ever come out?

I've liked everything from the band since "Psalm69". Lot's of people hated Filth Pig, Dark Side of The Spoon and Animositisomina, but I love those albums.
Not sure about the movie.
